Dreamplay celebrates third anniversary with King Julien’s Dance Off

DreamPlay’s third King Julien’s Dance Off competition is heading to the Grand Finals today with eight finalists vying for the grand championship and the top prize valued at P100,000.

Coinciding with the third anniversary of DreamPlay, City of Dreams Manila’s DreamWorks-inspired interactive play space, the dance competition held preliminary screenings of children’s dance groups from around the country. Each group is composed of eight to 12 members each, between the ages of seven to 14 years. 

 The eight finalists who were chosen by the DreamPlay management team in the presence of a DTI representative are Kiddowockeez, Maximum Groovers, Electro Groovers, GFAM, Little Warriors, The Class, Vibaekidz and Small Fries. The finalists were also announced on City of Dreams Manila website and DreamPlay Facebook page.

 The criteria for judging throughout the competition are: choreography (creativity, style and originality, 40 percent); execution (timing, coordination and projection, 30 percent); overall impact (star quality, 20 percent); and costume (tasteful, themed according to the song choice, 10 percent).

 The eight finalists will each perform a five-minute dance number to any song from DreamWorks Animation at the Grand Finals to be held in Chaos, City of Dreams Manila where one dance team will be chosen as King Julien’s Dance Off champion to win the grand prize of P80,000 in cash, a DreamPlay trophy and a special invitation to perform in upcoming events at DreamPlay. Each of the grand champion members will be given two weekend passes at DreamPlay, vouchers for DreamShop worth P1,000 and Chez Gingy worth P1,000, and a photo op with DreamWorks characters.

 The first runner-up team will be awarded with P25,000 in cash and DreamPlay trophy, with each member receiving a weekend pass at DreamPlay, vouchers for DreamShop worth P500 and Chez Gingy worth P500, and a photo op with DreamWorks characters,

Consolation prizes for the other finalists consist of P8,000 in cash and a DreamPlay plaque, with each member having a photo opportunity with the DreamWorks characters.
