Actress-singer Isabel Granada, who recently passed away after being in a coma due to brain hemorrhage, was inducted posthumously into the Walk of Fame.
Granada, who shot to fame in the 1980s as part of the popular That’s Entertainment show of the late German Moreno, died on Nov. 4 during a business trip in Qatar.
Walk of Fame Foundation president Federico Moreno, son of the late German Moreno or more popularly known in the showbiz circle as Kuya Germs, said 19 stars will be inducted on Nov. 21 at 6 pm at the Eastwood City Walk, Eastwood City, Quezon City.
Granada will be joined in the posthumous category by the late comedienne Chichay, movie directors Maning Borlaza and Eddie Romero and media personality Joe Taruc.
“Maning Borlaza was inducted last year but he humbly declined to accept the honor due to health reasons. I told him that I will nominate him again to the board for 2017. He was unanimously voted in but unfortunately, he passed away during the day of the actual selection and votation held last October,” said Moreno.
“Mr. Joe Taruc was already in the list for this year's nominees as far back as the middle of 2017 but unfortunately he also passed away last October.”
Drawing curiosity is the inclusion of Jake Zyrus, formerly known as the young singer Charice Pempengco, before her transformation. Interestingly, Pempengco already has a name in the Walk of Fame stars.
Moreno said they decided to have a Jake Zyrus star apart from that of Charice Pempengco’s in support of the LGBT community.
Former radio DJ Joe D Mango, meanwhile is flying in from Australia to accept the honor for Walk of Fame.
The Walk of Fame Philippines under the Walk of Fame Foundation is a non-stock, non-profit organization that the late German “Kuya Germs” Moreno has created 12 years ago.
This is to give recognition to the people in the Movie, TV, Radio, Theater and Music industry that have reached the epitome of success and have greatly made a positive influence on its growth.
The Board of Trustees is composed of respected individuals from the showbiz industry and family members of the elder Moreno.
The beneficiary of the Walk of Fame Foundation is the Mowelfund Foundation.
