In the media launch of Ogie Alcasid’s upcoming show at Resorts World Manila, concert producer Roxanne Lapus was raving about the singer’s ability to create songs that can easily affect the audience. She said that Ogie’s songs are very simple yet they leave a lasting impression.

“Ogie’s music should be with the symphonic orchestra. As far as I’m concerned, I really feel that his songs are like poems. Ogie’s songs affect me in the same way as these guys, Haji Alenjandro and Rico J. Puno, when I worked with them for a concert,” the concert producer related.

The singer-songwriter couldn’t say anything except express his gratitude toward the lady for her kind words and for believing in his talents throughout his career.

Now, ahead of his 30th anniversary in the business, which he plans to celebrate in a big way next year, the singer-songwriter will sing his heart out and share the melodies that shaped him as a multi-hyphenate artist in a one-night-only concert. Dubbed Ogie Alcasid: The Soundtrack of My Life, the show will be held on Nov. 30 at Resorts World Manila’s Newport Performing Arts Theater.

The repertoire includes some of Ogies’s classic hits and more recent chart-toppers such as “Dito Sa Puso Ko,” “Ikaw Sana,” Hanggang Ngayon,” “Kung Mawawala Ka,” and the anthemic “Nandito Ako.”

THE OTHER CONCERT KING.  Ogie Alcasid gears up for a one-night-only concert this month ahead of his 30th year in the music industry

“It’s going to be a journey from what kind of music influenced me from the beginning. Of course, the music that I’ve created through the years, the music that I created for my wife,” Ogie told the members of the press.

He also promised that the show will be an evening of music and funny anecdotes about his life as a son, a husband, and a father that many will relate to as he be joined onstage by his wife Regine Velasquez, and his kids Nate and Lila.

“It’s going to be really wild but I can assure you that the concert is for everybody, the whole family can come. The songs are romantic and emotional. There’s going to be comedy, which a lot of young people like. And then, there’s music for the millennials provided by my daughter,” the singer-songwriter added.

In the concert, Ogie will pay tribute to Rico J. Puno, who he considers as one of his biggest influence in music.

“I was aping him when I was a boy. I really identified so much with his singing style, so much so that I’m actually dedicating an entire medley to him in the concert and hopefully he guests, too,” Ogie said.

Since his early years as a member of Kundirana, the high-school music ministry at La Salle Green Hills, many already knew that Ogie had what it takes to be a star. This has been proven time and again with more than 20 albums including 12 Gold, five Platinum and three Double-Platinum records under his belt. His signature tongue-in-cheek and heart-on-his sleeve approach to every performance has garnered him more than 70 awards and citations throughout his stellar career.

Ogie Alcasid’s The Soundtrack of My Life features the musical score of the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Rodel Colmenar.
