A ‘New Day’ with Martin Nievera and Lani MisaluchaHad there been no pandemic, Concert King Martin Nievera and Asia’s Nightingale Lani Misalucha would have traveled to a city in the United States or in Europe to bring their music closer to Filipinos living overseas.

The OPM icons are known for staging concerts entertaining Filipinos in foreign territories with their treasure trove of classic hits and well-loved ballads.

“It’s everything special because, first of all, the audiences are hungry and they are so homesick. TFC and I have this role to make Filipinos feel homesick not just because they’re not home but because they’re so proud to represent their country in another land,” Martin told Manila Standard Entertainment in a virtual interview.

Concert King Martin Nievera and Asia’s Nightingale Lani Misalucha are gearing up for a grand vocal extravaganza in their star-studded digital concert titled “New Day.”

“When they see the likes of Regine Velasquez, Gary V, or Sharon Cuneta, even without the music yet, they feel so homesick already. You know the magic of music, in other parts of the world we just bring our hits. And with these hits, we bring a little bit of home. That’s a very big responsibility. I think that should be in the job description of new singers, to sing and make hits, make money, be popular but don’t forget to inspire the Filipinos who have given up their own lives to make it somewhere else.”

For Lani, whenever she performs in a foreign land, she feels motivated by the fact that Filipinos are everywhere and they are “so hungry to listen to local artists to perform for them.”

“The feeling is the same as when you are performing for Filipinos anywhere else. The greatest feeling is when you see their beautiful smiles beaming as if they’re telling you ‘thank you for taking us back to that memory when we’re still in the Philippines,” Lani stated.

Now, Filipinos overseas can still enjoy their brand of entertainment with New Day, a grand vocal extravaganza happening on June 6 at 11:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. (Manila time). The star-studded digital concert titled will stream on iWantTFC.
