Amassing 12 million views for its trailer is already a feat in itself. Thus, it is safe to say that Gerald Anderson, Yam Concepcion, and JM de Guzman’s sexy drama Init sa Magdamag is this summer’s most anticipated program to hit local television.

The teaser for the series, which gives the audience a glimpse of the artistry of the team behind it including the carefully crafted revealing scenes, has been warmly received by netizens. A few days after it was first released on YouTube it became a hot trending topic on social media.

Summer becomes more intense as ABS-CBN puts primetime television on fire through ‘Init Sa Magdamag’ starring JM de Guzman, Yam Concepcion, and Gerald Anderson.

Yam and JM play the prominent political couple Rita and Peterson, whose marriage is on the brink of collapse as they struggle to have a child. Peterson met an accident years earlier that made him incapable of fathering a child.

Rita believes that they can save their relationship if she bears a child through in vitro fertilization. Against Peterson’s parent’s wishes and their town’s beliefs, the two take a chance on the plan.

But Peterson proposes what he thinks is a simpler solution—get the barrio doctor, Tupe, played by Gerald Anderson, to be their sperm donor. Unbeknownst to Peterson, Rita and Tupe were once lovers.

“My character here has a good heart. I’m impressed with his motivation to surpass whatever problems he has in relation to his family, to his great love, and the community he is servicing. There’s one memorable experience of my character that I was able to relate to. That’s what the audience should watch out for,” Gerald shares.

Under the creative management of Henry Quitain, Init Sa Magdamag is directed by Ian Lorenos and Raymond Ocampo.

ABS-CBN, BBC Studios forge agreement for ‘Doctor Foster’ local adaptation

BBC Studios and ABS-CBN Corporation, the Philippines leading media and entertainment company, yesterday announced a new scripted format agreement that will see gripping psychological drama Doctor Foster remade for the Filipino audience.

A scene from ‘Doctor Foster,’ a BBC One television drama that follows the story of Gemma Foster (Suranne Jones), a doctor who suspects her husband Simon (Bertie Carvel) is having an affair.

Originally written by Mike Bartlett and produced by Drama Republic, the BAFTA award-winning series centers around a trusted doctor whose life implodes when she suspects her husband of having an affair. The local 50 x 60’ series will be made by ABS-CBN Entertainment and will go into production later this year. It will be executive produced by ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigak, ABS-CBN COO of broadcast Cory Vidanes, ABS-CBN Entertainment Production head Laurenti Dyogi, and ABS-CBN Dreamscape Entertainment head Deo Endrinal.

The agreement will make the Philippines the sixth international market to license the Doctor Foster format, having already been adapted in South Korea, France, Russia, Turkey, and India. A second series has aired in France and is currently in production in India. In South Korea the format (known locally as The World of the Married) was the country’s highest-rated drama in cable TV history.

André Renaud, SVP Format Sales for BBC Studios said: “It truly is an honour to know that Doctor Foster will be coming to life in the Philippines under the extraordinary creative team at ABS-CBN Entertainment. I know that they will not only craft a unique and special story, but that they will capture the complex struggle of modern relationships from the perspective of the strong female character that sits at the heart of this series. I am confident this will be a hit among the Filipino audiences.”

Cory Vidanes, ABS-CBN COO of Broadcast said: “We are most grateful to BBC Studios for entrusting ABS-CBN Entertainment with the Philippine version of Doctor Foster.  It is a privilege for us to be able to produce this highly engaging and relatable story for the Filipino audience. A scorned woman’s strength is real as she fights to stay whole when the marriage and family she values most is falling apart. True to our commitment to serve the Filipino, we are excited to create our own retelling of this beautiful story, to see the characters come alive with unique Filipino elements that will definitely excite our audiences.”
