Former couple Martin Nievera and Pops Fernandez faced the entertainment press in a virtual event to formally launch their joint television show directed by their eldest son Robin Nievera.
Called eXes & whYs with Pops and Martin, the show aims to revive the concert royalties’ special and indisputable charm and chemistry on television.
The show redefines traditional talk shows as it celebrates and incorporates the traditional OPM (Original Pilipino Music) with the modern music of this generation.

During the online presser, I learned that the program will tackle meaningful conversations about past and present relationships, experiences, and issues. Thus, I had to ask the same topics referring to their own relationship and when they actually felt that they’re already comfortable working together again.
“It was in 2004,” the former couple replied at the same time almost finishing each other’s sentences.
“We were asked to do a reunion [concert], and it was really like an uninviting invite. But we took it upon ourselves because it’s something that we do well together. We may have failed in some areas of our lives but for some reason, the moment that lights turn on and they give us a microphone and there’s a camera, we just jive so well. So, yes, it was in 2004 when we did a reuniting of some sort by doing a show at the Araneta and then we did a US tour. And it’s something between us that didn’t end.”
“It was a very stressful show,” Pops stated alluding to the first show they did after their highly publicized separation in 1996 that led to the court finalizing their annulment in 2000. “You know, we also did a show in Barcelona. That time we were not talking, we did the rehearsal even without talking. And then the minute we went onstage, something magical happened, we talked like we were friends again and nothing happened between us. Imagine, from not talking, nag-usap kame onstage and talked about how we felt. He was crying, I was crying.”
Hearing his parents say these revelations, Robin, who also joined Martin and Pops in the virtual press conference, butted in and said, “That’s the reason why it’s really easy to direct them.”
“I was there in Barcelona and I saw everything. I knew that they’re going to talk,” Robin started to which Martin asked, “You knew it back then?”
“Of course you were so loud,” Robin said in jest and continued, “I am more flexible to what they both want, even the sensitive things.
The reunion everyone is raring to see comes to life on Cignal TV and Colours this Saturday and the undisputed “Concert Queen” and “Concert King” will serenade audiences along with prominent celebrities and personalities set to guest on the show such as ZsaZsa Padilla, Vina Morales, Geneva Cruz, KZ Tandingan, TJ Monterde, Jaya, and Matteo Guidicelli.
Meanwhile, Robin is also joining Louie O. LIVE!, a show headlined by Louie Ocampo. It’s a late-night entertainment program launching the same weekend.
eXes & whYs With Pops and Martin premieres this Dec. 19 (Saturday), while Louie O. LIVE! with Robin Nievera premieres Dec. 20 (Sunday). Both will be airing at 9:00 p.m. on their respective dates on Colours, available exclusively on Cignal TV CH. 202 HD and CH. 60 SD.
