Celebrating women’s winning moment

September is not the women’s month but there are valid reasons to celebrate each month of the year dedicating it to women.

Last Saturday,  award-winning public service program Wish Ko Lang! trained the spotlight on the story of a mother who did everything to save her children from a flash flood that threatened their lives. The main role was played by Glydel Mercado.

“This episode has a very interesting and moving story to tell. As a mother, I felt really affected since it talks about a mother going to great lenghts just to save her children,”  Glydel told Manila Standard Entertainment in a zoom interview.

This month 'Wish Ko Lang!' airs a series of four fresh episodes bannered by some of the country’s top-notch actresses Glydel Mercado, Rochelle Pangilinan, Arra San Agustin, and Jean Garcia.

In this episode, the top-notch actress was joined by equally effective screen stars Allen Dizon and Therese Malvar.

Tomorrow (Sept. 12), Rochelle Pangilinan headlines the “Inararo” episode, a story about a couple who lost their jobs amid the pandemic and became fruit vendors to earn a living. Jason Abalos plays Rochelle’s husband in the story. Also in the episode are Shayne Sava, Lexi Gonzales, and Irma Adlawan.

“Like the previous episode, our episode talks about a mother’s unconditional love. My character, in a surreal way, is fortunate to have been given a chance to express her love for her family despite dying due to an accident. As mothers, we wanted to always have an opportunity to express our love for our children. We don’t know what the future holds, so the episode teaches people to express their love while they are still alive,” Rochelle said.

Meanwhile, Arra San Agustin, Thea Tolentino, and Juancho Triviño are siblings whose relationship is tested because of Herlene Budol’s character in the Sept. 19 episode entitled “Nasunog.”  In the story, Almira Muhlach plays the mother of Arra, Thea, and Juancho.

Rounding off the fresh stories this month is the “Inilibing” episode bannered by no less than Jean Garcia. Airing on Sept. 26, the episode also features Vaness del Moral and Adrian Alandy. In the story, Lorna (Jean) thought that Efren (Adrian) was the perfect guy only to find out otherwise. It turns out that on top of being an abusive partner, Efren has another woman (Vaness). Lorna will do everything to fight for her life and for her child.

Wish Ko Lang! continues to win the hearts of viewers and netizens as well. For the past few months, the program has been airing fresh episodes amid the pandemic. Host Vicky Morales is grateful for the positive feedback the show has been getting.

“I’m thankful to all the people who spend their Saturday afternoons watching our special fresh episodes. More than the assistance we get to extend to our case studies and our show’s followers, I am happy that Wish Ko Lang! is able to inspire people to hope and help one another amid these trying times,” the program host stated.

Catch of Wish Ko Lang! Every Saturday 4:00 p.m. on GMA-7.
