Despite these uncertain times, and the enhanced community quarantine having another extension, celebrities like Alden Richards serve as a ray of hope during this difficult and trying situation.

The Kapuso star continues to share encouraging words with his fans via social media portals. In an exclusive email interview with Manila Standard, the actor shared how he gets by, how his family serves as his source of strength, and what he does to keep his legion of fans updated.

“Social media is my only way right now to reach out to people since everybody is on quarantine at their respective homes. Online na lang ako nakakapag-hatid ng tulong at saya sa kanila. I’d like them to know that I still pray for them every single day,” Alden told Manila Standard.

The 28-year-old multimedia star is aware that the COVID-19 pandemic will stay engraved in our history as one of the biggest challenges of modern times, and he’d like people to learn something out of this crisis so they could be more prepared in the future.

“We should be more careful now and give health more importance. This should serve as a lesson for everyone. It might sound cliche but health is wealth talaga. We should look after each other from now on kasi ang sakit na iniinda ng isa ay puwedeng maka-apekto ng marami. I hope and pray na we will all emerge from this and take a few lessons din from this experience,” he carried on adding that he fervently prays for the Lord to grant us immediate healing.

Last month, Alden turned emotional when he opened up about his elder brother working as a COVID-19 frontliner in California, United States. The actor shared that his family already asked his brother not to go out anymore but the latter refused due to his sworn duties as a nurse practitioner.

“I really hope that our experts would find a cure and put an end to this pandemic. I also pray for the protection of all the health workers – this is very close to me because my brother is a frontliner, too,” Alden said.

While he prays for the healing, protection, and recovery of every nation hit by the lethal virus, Alden encourages people to be transparent regarding their travel history and exposure to COVID-19. He took to Instagram to remind people specifically those who are being evaluated for the disease to be truthful about their travel history.

The actor, 28, serves as his family's runner to do grocery shopping and buy their household supplies.

“I think we should use our influence to spread awareness and to be a source of legitimate information for the public. We are given this platform so we must use it wisely. Also, I believe that we must share what we have to those in need in our own ways, especially during this time na marami ang hindi nakakapagtrabaho,” the Centerstage host pointed out.

Alden wanted to thank all the frontliners who risk their life each day that they report for work.

“I’d like to thank them sa araw-araw ay hinaharap ang banta ng COVID-19 para lang pagsilbihan ang ating mga kababayan. I salute you for your heroism, and for your unparalleled service. If not for your sacrifice, we would be able to hurdle every challenge that we face because of this crisis. May God bless you po,” he said.

As most of his fans know, the multimedia star is a pet lover, an avid gamer, and a big Iron Man fan.

According to the Pambansang Bae, it’s the first time he’s doing a live chat with his fans on the popular social media app and he’s doing it because he wanted to entertain the people who have not seen him live on the small screen due to the temporary ban of live TV production.

“I decided to do this kasi antagal na ng quarantine and there’s no TV appearance. I miss interacting with people who love and support me. This is my chance to do it. I’m going to be your company today,” he started and greeted his fans “Kamusta kayo?”

While staying at home, Alden serves as their family’s “runner,” he’s the one doing the grocery driving out of their village to buy their supplies.

“But I’m extra careful. Once I get home I immediately change my clothes at the garage where I also wash my hands. After that, I head to my room to take a bath,” the actor said.

“I can’t risk the situation, I live with my grandparents,  mahirap na. I don’t want them to get sick because of me,” he added.

Talking about the lockdown, Alden believes that people will be able to survive this outbreak and they must see this situation “with a silver lining.”
