Miss Universe queens Gloria Diaz and Pia Wurtzbach had their “longest brief chat” for the first time. The latter considered it a golden moment having learned so much from the country’s first Miss Universe titleholder while they sit on a table together.
“We’ve met a few times before, but today was the first time that we’re able to talk and exchange numbers. And it’s amazing that I’ve already learned so much from her considering we only had a few minutes to talk,” the statuesque Pia told Manila Standard in an interview when she and the 1979 Miss Universe attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony of LuxeHome, which opened its BGC showroom on Oct. 12.
They did the honor of officially opening the LuxeHome BGC showroom with Taguig Mayor Lino Cayetano.
According to Pia, they talked about designing her home. Since she recently moved into a condominium at Century City in Makati, she was able to get a few tips from Gloria.
“It’s actually a fitting conversation. We’re here and that’s what we were talking about. It opened my eyes to the world of furniture and interior design. I have a new sense of appreciation for home decor, including beds and other furniture,” Pia started.
The 30-year-old beauty queen shared that she’s getting a lot of good advice for her mid-century modern home. And the one she got from Gloria was surely something she’d consider doing.
“She told me to test out beds in the morning, the time when your body isn’t tired yet. If you did it in the afternoon, every single mattress would feel good,” she said.

“It’s about getting enough sleep. She sleeps eight hours a day. That’s what I do, too. And that’s the best beauty advice I can share with others, too. When you are well-rested it will reflect on your skin. If you have good skin, sometimes makeup is no longer necessary,” she concluded adding a nice comfortable bed can help that happen.
