Bond of brothers

Bond of brothersThere’s no denying the bond that ties the three musically gifted Naval brothers of Taytay, Rizal, namely, Sean, Chris, and JC. They agreed to collectively name themselves Bradz, a colloquial term for brothers, which only strengthened their sense of pride of having the same parents and growing up together.

Watching their live performances and hearing their songs should make you wonder why there’s such a thing as sibling rivalry when brothers can instead just play good unadulterated pop band music and not for a second display an effort to upstage the others. They play respective roles and know for sure the essence of the cliche that says “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.”

Bradz, which just released a new song called ’LBM (Ligayang Bigay Mo)‘, will deliver its first virtual concert this Sunday at 7:00 in the evening.

“Different invites sprouted after they have performed on the iconic Wish Bus,” informs a press release provided by BMPI (Breakthrough and Milestones Productions International, Inc) which inked a management deal with the boys two years ago.

It was a performance referring to their Wishclusive take of their original song “Pag-ibig.” The track is feel-good showcase of happy Tagalog pop carried by the basic mix of electric and bass guitars and drums, and delicately wrapped by their vocal harmonies. It’s no surprise they initially called themselves Voysing when they joined an acoustic band mall competition eight years ago.

The song’s chorus line simply goes, “Pag-ibig Ko Sayo/ Kailanma’y di magbabago.” Yet, when sung well together with a steady rhythm section, the message comes off in a more illuminating color combination. At first, one should be intrigued why they employed the classic Beatlesque “Love, love, love” hook on their song, yet the thrill and sincerity in their voices made it pass the security railing without a fuss.

The attention the song garnered prompted that famed ABS CBN’s Sunday night program Gandang Gabi Vice to use it as background music during its guesting of the famous Korean girl group Momoland. It ultimately resulted to the group performing a production number with known celebrities at the 1st Wish Music Awards held in 2015 at the Araneta Coliseum.

With momentum on their side, Bradz interpreted the likably tuneful “Tugtog” during the 2018 A Song of Praise Music Festival (ASOP) Grand Finals. The song composed by John Paul Salazar was named Grand Champion and beat 11 other contenders. Both their interpretation and the composition, for all its strong recall, represented Bradz as an act fairly better than “Pag-ibig.”

It’s high time for BMPI to stage the troika’s maiden virtual concert this Sunday (Sept. 27) at 7:00 p.m.. The digital show will feature performances from former Rivermaya lead vocalist Jason Fernandez, folk-pop singer-songwriter Eloisa Jayloni, rock band Itchyworms, and singer-songwriter Barbie Almalbis-Honasan.
