Promising discoveries

It’s every artist’s dream to be taken care of by a business-savvy group that knows how to properly treat and develop an act.

Both singers  Myko Mañago and  Jessa Mae Gabon sound upbeat they have found that in San Francisco-based RJA Productions LLC which offered them talent development contracts.  

Good to note that CEO  Rosabella Jao-Arribas signs talents she believes in. She was quoted as saying, “Myko gave me goosebumps when I first heard him sing. The world needs to applaud such talent.”

Myko is described as a jaw-dropping vocal sensation, having captivated the public as a three-time defending champion of ABS-CBN’s Tawag Ng Tanghalan. An experienced band vocalist, Myko’s YouTube vlogs caught the attention of RJA.

“We’re fully supported by the company and we just need to show up as gigs,” said Myko of RJA.

His just-released debut single Stuck shows his effective vocals by way of an easy-listening pop record produced by veteran label executive  Reck Cardinales. Singing since he was nine, he put it nicely when he said that it is about being stuck, say, in traffic with your crush.

While having RJA is a major boost to his career, he likewise acknowledges the fact he grew up with very supportive parents, his dad from Iloilo, his mom from Cavite. While the TNT stint must have put him on the map, he also appeared on  Wowowin’s Will To Win as semi-finalist and on  Unang Hirit  as viral guest performer of the day.   

Jessa Mae, on the other hand, has some international citations to mention, including being a recipient of South East Asian Region Award for the Search for Unsigned Talents in Asia. She was involved with Disrupt, a program produced by Singapore’s MediaCorp and featuring Asian artists. In local landscape, she was twice grand finals interpreter for A Song of Praise music festival and released music under then Star Records in 2009. She was in London when she learned that RJA is interested in signing her.

Fast-forward to 2019 and she released a piece she wrote called “Ensayado,” a mix of pop rock and retro. It was released on all streaming sites by Curve Entertainment.

Interestingly, the song, according to her, is about mental health. She shared, “It’s an issue and there’s problem rooted in our social and economic conditions. It’s about anxiety, ‘yung ine-ensayo mo ang dapat na sinabi mo kahit wala ka nang magagawa.  In short, puro  regrets.”

Looks like we have formidable singer with an advocacy. She related, “I chose mental health  kasi may mga taong hindi nila naiintindihan ang sarili nila bakit bigla na lang sobrang lungkot nila.”

Her track record revealing she’s done covers for Karaoke videos,  Jessa is deep into songwriting and has co-written, co-produced, and sang a number of children’s songs for a popular Singaporean children’s show called  Junction Tree. She is also an active member of puppet theater group  Teatrong Mulat ng Pilipinas  that tours around the world.
