Ask any star that is working at ABS-CBN if they’d remain Kapamilya when given the chance, most probably you’d get the same answer: “Yes!”
And, recently, six of the most sought after celebrities have chosen to remain Kapamilya. All of them renewed their respective two-year contracts.
The line-up of renewed Kapamilya stars was led by actress Bea Alonzo who is looking forward to the upcoming South East Asian release of her movie Eerie this month. She is also busy cooking up a soap opera with actor Richard Gutierrez. “I feel really blessed to remain a Kapamilya. My heart is so grateful for all the trust that the Kapamilya bosses are giving me,” Bea told members of the press after renewing her contract.
Another Kapamilya star that renewed his contract with ABS-CBN is actor Enchong Dee who starred in the Regal Entertainment movie Elise last month. He is also doing another teleserye that is still under wraps. Enchong said that he’s very excited with the line-up of projects that ABS-CBN has offered him.
Kapamilya actor JM de Guzman, on the other hand, is busy preparing for a movie and teleserye on ABS-CBN. When asked how he feels that he’s still a Kapamilya, JM shared, “I’m trying to be calm as possible but I really want to celebrate because this is a very special day for me.”
Momshie Jolina Magdangal is happy that she will be spending another two years in ABS-CBN. She will still host the morning talk show Magandang Buhay along with Melai Cantiveros and Karla Estrada. “Sobrang happy maging isang Kapamilya. I feel really grateful to ABS-CBN,” Jolina gushed.
Yassi Pressman also renewed her contract with ABS-CBN. Her fans will continue to see her in one of the longest-running television series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. Yassi can’t help but express her gratitude to the Kapamilya network: “Masayang masaya ako that I found home here at winelkam ako ng mga tao with open arms. I just feel very blessed to still be here in ABS-CBN.”
Completing the line-up of stars who signed up with ABS-CBN today is Bela Padilla who is busy taping for the new mystery-thriller Mea Culpa. She said it was a dream come true for her to be able to work with Jodi Sta. Maria. Bela also expressed her happiness as a Kapamilya, “I’m very satisfied. Being a Kapamilya, opened so many new opportunities for me in the last three years. I was able to write a book, write scripts, and more. I wouldn’t have done that if not for the support of our bosses here.”

More farmers attend mechanization, and rice production training course
Sen. Cynthia Villar led the opening of the training course on rice farm mechanization and inbred and rice seeds production at the Villar SIPAG Farm School in Bacoor, Cavite.
Villar, chair of the Committee on Agriculture and Food, said training the farmers how to mechanize farming practices and to produce certified inbred seeds will address the need to lower the production cost of growing palay.
“Through this training program, we are preparing our farmers to switch to the modern way of farming and help them to be able to compete against imported rice which will start coming in as a result of the expiration of the Quantitative Restriction on Rice, prescribed by WTO,” Villar said.
The training program was conducted for free in partnership with the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), the Philippine Center for Post-Harvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech), and the Agricultural Training Institute.
Thirty-Five farmers from the Cordillera Autonomous Region and Regions 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 were the participants in this 9-day training program. The First Phase was conducted from Feb. 4 to 7 and the Second Phase on Feb. 11 to 15.
After the program, participants are expected to acquire the knowledge that will help improve farm yield through mechanization and production of high-quality inbred seeds.
“Once they graduate from the course, the participants are expected to also share their learnings in their respective communities and help us transform more farmers into seed growers engaged in seed production and trade,” Villar said.
Under the rice tariffication bill, among the programs that will be funded by the P10-billion Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund, is the development, propagation and promotion of inbred rice seeds to farmers as well as farm mechanization programs.
Along this line, the Villar Social Institute for Poverty Alleviation and Governance (Villar SIPAG) partnered with PhilRice, PhilMech and ATI to conduct the Training Course on Rice Farm Mechanization and Inbred and Rice Seeds Production.
