‘All-star Videoke’ out, ‘Lip Sync Battle Philippines’ in

Last Sunday, I watched the final episode of All-star Videoke that had Ruru Madrid winning the grand and final prize that he shared with GMA Kapuso Foundation’s beneficiaries, patients suffering from illnesses difficult to treat.

It moved me for someone as young as Madrid to have the compassion to help persons in dire need of assistance. I hope there are more showbiz personalities with Ruru’s heart and consciousness.

And, how sad the show (despite its quirks, I am not really a fan of transvestites or cross dressers on screen) will be off the air on April 1.

But the Kapuso network says followers of the show should get ready for crazy yet delightful replacement on that time slot on Sundays. Lip Sync Battle Philippines returns for its third season.

If you have a cable connection and you have Comedy Central on your menu, you could have watched the American version. It is really very funny and I am glad GMA has chosen to air its own version. The one you will start seeing on Sunday is now the third season in the Philippines.

 Michael V and Iya Villania

Michael V.  and Iya Villania-Arellano also return as host and color commentator.

Michael V. says he is excited to present the changes that will happen in this season. “Excited ako kasi sinala talaga namin yung mga battlers ngayon and magkakaroon ng bagong battles. So ang masasabi ko talaga, mas aabangan ito kasi yung mga napilingbattler, ready talaga sila.”

Meanwhile, Iya expressed her gratitude to GMA for giving her another chance to be work with Michael V. because of his warm personality. ‘I am just happy to be working with Kuya Bitoy because you know, he is very approachable and friendly and lahat ng galaw ko sa set, he is there to help and assist me so hindi talaga ako nahihirapan,’ she said.

The game pits celebrities or personalities against each other in a lip sync battle for two rounds. They can lip sync the song/s of their choice. Then the crowd determines the winner of the battle after the two rounds have been completed. The winner gets the bragging rights to be the Lip Sync Battle Champion and gets the Lip Sync Battle Championship Belt.

Making the third season more special are new things to look forward to such as the three-way battle and thematic episodes that will pave the way to a more intense head-to-head challenge of your favorite celebrities and personalities. Kapuso viewers can also expect guest color commentators who will participate in the show as they add more fun in the program.

Ana (Julia Montes) gets yet another reason to seek revenge against the Del Mundos after the wicked family’s crony Miranda (Lorna Tolentino) killed Celeste (Cherry Pie Picache) in the Kapamilya afternoon series "Asintado.”

Celeste’s failed attempt to expose the Del Mundos led to her unfortunate death after Miranda caught her breaking into her enemies’ mansion to find evidence that will prove their vicious deeds. After an intense scuffle, Celeste was shot by Miranda while trying to escape.

Ana and her group then arrived at the house to save Celeste, who was already moments away from her death and ultimately failed to make it out alive. Despite being unsuccessful in exposing their enemies, Celeste was able to retrieve a book owned by Ana’s dad, which reminded her of all the pain she went through and further ignited her fury to bring down the Del Mundos.

Asintado airs on ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN HD (SkyCable ch 167).

There’s nothing quite like the rich, delicious aroma of the Jollibee Yumburger, as seen in the best-selling product’s latest online video starring popular teen love team and Yumburger endorsers, Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto.

The pair—popularly known among their fans as ‘JoshLia’—proves the iconic slogan langhap-sarap in a series of fun interactions with Jollibee diners and their favorite Yumburger. With a contemporary rendition of the mid-90’s OPM hit “O Lumapit Ka” playing in the background, Joshua follows the delicious aroma of the Yumburger, expecting it to lead him to Julia. After a couple of adorable mishaps, Julia finally unwraps her own Yumburger to help Joshua in his search for her.

“Langhap-sarap  is more than a claim or a slogan for the Yumburger,” said Cathleen D. Capati, Jollibee Marketing director for Flagship Category.

“It’s a time-tested product truth that manifests itself as soon as you unwrap the burger. When you breathe in the mouthwatering aroma, it’s a preview of the unforgettable deliciousness that the Yumburger delivers with every bite.”

The Philippines’ no. 1 langhap-sarap Yumburger is a true fast-food classic that has captured the hearts and thrilled the taste-buds of Filipino diners for decades. At the core of the Yumburger is a 100 percent pure beef patty packed with meaty, savory flavors and complemented by Jollibee’s special burger dressing and soft buns.
