Apart from relaxing and escaping from their busy schedules, celebrities take time off to somehow mend themselves.

Beginning tomorrow, you can join some of today’s hottest celebrities as they travel and reflect on themselves and life in GMA Public Affairs’ latest travel-reality program Road Trip.

The hour-long TV series promises to be your newest Sunday afternoon viewing habit as each episode shows the featured celebrities’ adventures and life realizations.

Every week, Road Trip will follow either a couple or a group of celebrities as they get out of their own little corners and embark on a journey they will not forget. Against the picturesque scenery of some of the must-visit destinations, celebrities will take viewers along a fun-filled excursion.

As travelling is also a means of self-discovery, stars will also share their “hugot” lines and thoughts, showing viewers that just like any normal human being, they, too, have issues and conflicts that need resolving.

They say every girl dreams of being a beauty queen. And for Mary Ann Mungcal, that dream became a reality when she was crowned Miss Global Philippines 2017 besting 21 other beauties on June 24 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila.

Mungcal, when she was jus a student, had joined pageants in Arayat, Pampanga. Miss Global is her first national pageant where she bagged the major awards, including Best in Swimsuit and Best in Long Gown during the preliminaries.

Her life has been a whirlwind since then. She is undergoing intensive preparation, courtesy of the Kagandahang Flores pageant experts, for the upcoming Miss Global International pageant 2017.

Details of the international pageant have yet to be firmed up, but Pauline Sofia Laping, CEO/National Pageant director of Miss Global Philippines, says it will be held in either Cambodia or Vietnam sometime in the last quarter of the year.

“Mary Ann is very confident about her walk and everything, and we are currently training her to improve her speaking skills,” reveals Laping.

The young pageant director happily announces that Mungcal had been signed to endorse a Malaysian beauty and wellness brand called Akero, so at the time of interview, she was at the Department of Foreign Affairs office getting her passport so she could travel that weekend to Kuala Lumpur for the signing.

Mungcal, having won other awards, will also be busy doing her endorsement commitments for a number of other beauty brands here.

Miss Global Philippines is a tourism-oriented pageant known for its tagline, “Empowering women, embracing culture.” The pageant is open to “both single and single mothers who possess not just beauty, but also the passion to serve and the commitment to make a difference for the Philippines and its people.”

“Mary Ann is our fourth Miss Global Philippines queen. The first was Catherine Almirante in 2014. She placed second in the international competition. She is now married and is based in Copenhagen. In 2015, which we hosted here in the Philippines, it was Candice Ramos. She placed fourth in the international pageant.

She was recently in the TV show Fiercest of Them All. In 2016, Camille Hirro won first place in the pageant won by Miss Ecuador Angela Bonilla,” relates Laping.
