If you think local cinema is only about romantic comedies, you might be daydreaming. There are still films that tackle adult themes, still about love, but not about its simplistic mathematical expression of the experience, but more like a polynomial with a number of variables that make the dramaturgy more interesting.
This is so in the upcoming Regal Entertainment drama called The Escort directed by Enzo Williams whose Bonifacio Ang Unang Pangulo impressed this writer for its multi-layered narrative and stunning imagery.
The films stars two of the screens sensual actors – Derek Ramsay and Lovi Poe – in their first team up on the big screen.
Ramsay and Poe, by accident, have a chemistry that sizzles on screen when they’re together in a frame, and they seem unaware of that.
The erotic offering may be Derek and Lovi’s first team-up, yet bot of them made sure their respective performance together and with other stars of the films will ensure the audience will queue at the tills when the movie opens on All Souls Day.
Don’t think about spooky films. Enjoy the sexy interlude between Xyruz, the escort Ramsay plays, and Yassi, the girl needing a job and money that Poe breathes life in the film to raise her siblings left with her when her parents passed on.
The new screen pair threw all cautions to the wind — frolicking as well as burning with feverish passion in bed, in the swimming pool and other odd places to satisfy their desire for each other.
Director Williams can only grin in satisfaction with his actor’s performances.
In the film, Derek plays an ex-escort named Xyruz, abandoned by his mom at a tender age and dumped by his fiancee a few days before their wedding.
These two unfortunate incidents drive Xyruz to curse women and vow never to fall in love again.
Lovi, meanwhile, is Yassi, left to raise and take care of her siblings after their parents die in an accident.
When Xyruz and Yassi’s paths cross, the former surprisingly falls for the latter. He tries hard to resist his feelings for her, as he wants her to join the escort company for which he works as a senior.
While Xyruz is head over heels in love with Yassi, he has to sacrifice his feelings so he can offer Yassi as an escort to rich real estate mogul Gary, played by Christopher de Leon.

The Escort’s full trailer has become a hot item on the net since it was uploaded mainly due to the lead stars’ sizzling love scenes.
It’s been a while since Derek was last seen in an out and out erotic sex drama. And he won’t disappoint eager followers in The Escort.
Lovi said she also shed all inhibitions in her intimate scenes with Derek, the same work attitude she had for the daring October FHM pictorial.
Apart from Derek, Lovi and Chrisopher, the movie also boasts a stellar support cast – Jean Garcia (who did a love scene with Derek as well), Rommel Padilla, Dimples Romana, Jackie Lou Blanco and Albie Casino.
Williams himself did well with his first assignment for Regal. Williams is a US-trained director who earned a best director award at the 2014 Metro Manila Film Festival with the movie, Bonifacio Ang Unang Pangulo, which starred Robin Padilla.
The scorching hot offering, The Escort, explodes in cinemas nationwide on Nov. 2 from Regal Entertainment.

It was a day full of fun and festivities for the supporters of Jodi Sta. Maria and Ian Veneracion as the Kapamilya stars gave a huge dose of kilig and surprises on their fans day at Glorietta 2 Activity Center brought by Jeepney TV and Cinema One in partnership with Ayala Malls.
Hosted by MOR 101.9’s DJ Jhai Ho, the event thrilled fans as they got to see Jodi and Ian up close and sent their love through their deafening cheers and screams that filled the whole activity center. The popular tandem also did not disappoint with performances that brought kilig.
The Jodi and Ian tandem blossomed in the hit Kapamilya series Pangako Sa’Yo in which they played lovers Amor Powers and Eduardo Buenavista. The former’s outstanding portrayal in the series also recently got a nod at the 2016 International Emmy Award where she is nominated as Best Actress.
Aside from television, Jodi and Ian’s chemistry was brought to the big screen when they starred in Star Cinema’s All You Need is Pag-Ibig, which will be shown on Cinema One on Oct. 21.
Fans are also able to see more of Jeepney TV’s Icon of the Month as she now returns to television in the rerun of the phenomenal hit series Be Careful with My Heart, which premiered on Oct. 17.
Meanwhile, music also took center stage at the fans day with The Voice Kids Season 3 finalist Justin Alva impressing the crowd with his vocal prowess. Teen star Andrea Brillantes, meanwhile, captured the hearts of viewers with her charming performance.
As the show ended, Jodi and Ian sent their words of gratitude to their fans for their overwhelming love and support.
