GMA Network brings to primetime television the original and compelling series Someone To Watch Over Me beginning tonight.
The drama tackles the story of a wife’s unwavering love for her husband who is suffering from early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.
Someone To Watch Over Me is headlined by versatile Kapuso actor Tom Rodriguez, beautiful and talented actress Max Collins and Kapuso Premier actress Lovi Poe.
Tom breathes life to the character of TJ Chavez, a playful and outgoing guy who falls madly in love with Joanna. He and his wife will face their biggest setback when he is diagnosed with the rare disorder.
Tom says he becomes even more interested in the story as he studies about his character. “Actually, habang inaaral ko siya, mas na-e-excite ako na makita kung saan pupunta yung kuwento, kasi nga yung character ko is hindi siya biglang milagrong gagaling. So, it’s exciting to see where it goes,” Tom said.
Lovi is Joanna Mercado, the compassionate wife of TJ. She will do everything for her sick husband even allowing Irene into their lives and into their home. As Irene receives all of TJ’s love and affection, Joanna acts as TJ’s nurse who takes care of his needs.
Portraying the role of Joanna is indeed another challenge for Lovi because it pushes her outside her comfort zone. She said, “Yes, iiyak na naman ako ng sobra. Pero kasi I look at this positively. It makes me explore kung hanggang saan yung kaya kong gawin. Nakaka-excite kasi it’s gonna be a whole new me in this series. But, I’m really thankful kasi sa lahat naman ng binibigay nila sa akin na projects, masaya ako dun. And the thought na they’re trusting me with this is something I want to make sure that I give my best kasi hindi biro yung mga roles na ino-offer sa akin ng GMA.”
Max plays the role of Irene Montenegro, TJ’s ex-girlfriend. She tries to stay away from TJ but he keeps seeking her as he no longer recognizes Joanna, his wife.
She shares that portraying Irene is undeniably a milestone for her since this series is different from her projects before. “Big step talaga ito sa acting career ko since iba ito sa lahat ng nagampanan ko nang roles before. And with Tom, Lovi and Direk Maryo’s help, I hope to get through this gracefully. ”
Joining Tom, Max and Lovi are Edu Manzano as TJ’s hardworking father, Buddy Chavez; Jackie Lou Blanco as Cielo Chavez, TJ’s loving and supportive mother; Isay Alvarez and Ronnie Lazaro as Carmen and Ruben Mercado, Joanna’s kind-hearted parents; Boy 2 Quizon as Paolo, TJ’s chick-magnet best friend; Ralph Noriega as Jepoy Mercado, the cheerful younger brother of Joanna; and Frances Makil as Joanna’s frank best friend.
How far can Joanna still go and what else is she willing to do for her ill husband? Will TJ continue fighting for his love for Irene or will he finally remember Joanna as his wife and as someone who stayed with him despite his sickness and her pain?
