In a recent virtual junket, Jason Abalos expressed his gratefulness to GMA for its continuous trust in him. The junket happened right after he renewed his contract with the network that has been his home for four years now.

The 36-year-old actor inked another three-year contract and talked about the projects he has in the pipeline.

“I’m simply thankful to GMA for their faith in me over the years,” he said. “When I transferred here, they really explored my acting skills to the fore. They made me appear in rom-coms, made me play antagonistic parts, and even made me portray a woman. That’s why until now, I’m still excited with every project they give me,” Jason, whose latest project is the afternoon soap Las Hermanas with Yasmien Kurdi, Thea Tolentino, Faith Da Silva and Mr. Albert Martinez, said.

The actor admitted that in terms of his showbiz career, he’s at this point that he wanted to be involved in projects that would help in the longevity of his career.

“I’m at this stage when I’m beginning to feel afraid. Let’s face it, when you’re already aging in the entertainment field, you gradually fade out from the limelight.  That’s one thing that I don’t want to happen to me. I have to learn how to prolong my stay in the ‘biz. If I have to reinvent myself then I’ll do it. Acting is really my passion,” he related.

“I love entertaining the public. It brings joy to my heart if I make them smile and happy with my performances. It’s a big thing for me if I’m able to touch their hearts and lives,” he added.

Jason, who entered showbiz in 2004, doesn’t want his career to end up like most of his screen idols in the past, particularly the ‘90s who are no longer active in the ‘biz at present.

“I witnessed the rise of many stars before whom I idolized. Sadly, in the passing of years, they seem to just disappear from the mainstream. I told myself that this won’t happen to me eventually. I would like to have a durable career like that of the late Mr. Eddie Garcia and Mr. Albert Martinez. They withstood the tests of time. I worked with the latter in ‘Las Hermanas’ and I can say I’ve learned so much from him. Imagine, his career spans four decades already and until now, he’s still relevant in the scene,” he ended.
