Actor Enzo Pineda is delighted with the fact that he has an entry to the forthcoming Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival titled Malamaya (The Color of Gray) wherein he shares stellar billing with Sunshine Cruz.

“It’s really a dream-come-true for me,” he says. “Joining Cinemalaya has always been in my vision board. If you remember, in 2013, I also had an entry here titled Sundalong Kanin. I was still very young then but I’m happy because many still remember the character I portrayed in said film.”

For the actor, this development is a blessing in disguise as being part of Cinemalaya is included in his short-term goals.

“It’s a big honor on my part who wants to excel in my chosen field. I thank God that this offer came along. I want to believe that it’s really for me,” he says.

Enzo proudly reveals that he had to undergo auditions for Cinemalaya.

“To be honest, I don’t want to be conceited and say why would I go to auditions? Yes, for other actors, they might feel disappointed if they don’t get a certain role that they’ve auditioned for. But in other countries, doing auditions is just normal whether you’re popular or not. So, I want to maintain that mindset,” he shares.

“I want to train myself to undergo auditions. That way, you’ll feel more proud if you are able to snatch the role. Sometimes, producers might have a different impression on you. They might think you can’t do the character. Undergoing an audition erases that. From there, you will be able to prove that you are worthy of the role,” he adds.

According to Enzo, Malamaya is primarily a May-December affair but he quickly says that the romance angle is just an added bonus. In truth, the movie supports the promotion of our local artists.

Many are curious to know if before accepting the movie, he already knew that he will have love scenes with Sunshine.

“I consented doing it because it’s needed in the story. There’s a purpose for it. I won’t be doing something just for the heck of it. I didn’t have doubts because apart from the meaty material, Ms. Sunshine is a good actress.”

Enzo has only good words for his leading lady.

“She’s very professional and open. She is supportive of me in doing our delicate scenes. Most of my scenes are with her and Raymond Bagatsing. Truly, I learned a lot from Ms. Sunshine!”

Also one of the good-looking actor’s future goals is to win an acting award.

“That’s right! It would mean a lot to me. This is the reason why I want to explore the roles I portray on screen. I’m hoping that in the future, I’ll really be able to get one for myself,” states Enzo.

Alden Richards is happy with the news that his perennial screen partner Maine Mendoza is also scheduled to do a film project with ABS-CBN titled Isa Pa with Feelings opposite Carlo Aquino

“It’s nice that Maine is now really exploring acting. She’s on her own and with a different partner this time. It’s simply exciting!” he says.

According to the Pambansang Bae, this is indeed a breakthrough for Maine.

“I remember that when we were working together, she mentioned that she’s having a hard time when it comes to acting. Now that she is given an opportunity to do a movie with ABS-CBN, I’m happy for her.”

Alden reveals that he and Maine are supportive of each other.

“Oh, yes! We’re full support for each other. And I guess, now is the time that Maine breaks out of her fear in acting. I’m sure it will turn out to be fine,” ends Alden.
