A sturdy love teamKapuso stars Bianca Umali and Miguel Tanfelix, who have been paired as love a love team for a couple of years now, admit that they were able to overcome whatever challenges they faced the past year.

A sturdy love team
GOING STRONG. Bianca Umali and Miguel Tanfelix have been onscreen partners for almost a decade now.

Bianca believes that the key factor in their sturdy relationship is communication apart from having a positive disposition.

“In our case, when struggles arise, we maintain a positive outlook, thinking that it’s just a phase and that it’s something that would eventually pass. We don’t want to sacrifice or lose the relationship we’ve built together due to the presence of stumbling blocks.”

Miguel states that he can’t afford to lose Bianca.

“I treasure her as one of the closest persons I have in my life both in the professional and personal aspects. We’ve gone through a lot already. We know each other too well. I really value her.”

Even if in truth they’re not romantically involved off cam, their friendship is special.

“In the nine years that we’ve worked together here in the ‘biz, seven there we spent as a love team. You know, it’s easy to let go of someone especially if you’ve encountered so much problems and complications but with Bianca, I can’t do that because she will always have a special place in my heart,” adds Miguel.

According to Bianca, she and Miguel are already used to each other’s attitudes.

“We know how to approach and talk to each other without apprehensions. We are aware as well of our respective likes and dislikes. We also engage in heart-to-heart talks. Many don’t know that Miguel is an emotional guy, he easily sheds tears.”

“On her part, Bianca is a very caring gal. If you’re close to her, she will really make you feel that. In fact, she cooks for me. She will do things which would always remind you of her,” ends Miguel.

Mika dela Cruz is aware of the high expectations on her latest GMA soap opposite Barbie Forteza titled, Kara Mia.

“I’m confident of the material. The story is quite interesting. The cast is high calibre. In fact, we’re so happy that even before our maiden airing, we already went viral on social media, a proof that we were able to tap the interest of the public,” she points out.

“And we promise that they won’t get disappointed with what they’ll see. They won’t be misled. Whatever they saw initially in the teasers, they’ll get more than what they expect. I can assure that. The story is very rich where lots of twists and turns can be made,” she adds.

Many are curious if their new offering will be able to topple the rival network’s long-running program Ang Probinsyano headlined by Coco Martin.

“I can say that we’ll be able to give a good fight ratings-wise. To topple the rival show is not our foremost goal. What I’m saying is that ‘Kara Mia’ is the type of soap that will really have an indelible mark in the hearts and minds of viewers. Even if for example, it’s not me and Barbie who will top-bill this, it will draw the same effect. The people will laugh, cry and get amazed with our story.”

Speaking of Barbie, many say that they are a good match given their respective qualities. Is there a brewing rivalry between them?

“Barbie and I are okay off-cam. We’re like true sisters. That rivalry angle, we don’t focus our attention much on it. Maybe it’s more on the acting side. We’re like Sunshine Dizon and my sister Angelika dela Cruz. I guess, in that aspect, it would help us to bring out the best in ourselves,” states Mika.
