Coming off two consecutive wins abroad of her fellow Binibining Pilipinas 2021 queens, Samantha Alexandra Panlilio is determined to step it up to keep the streak going.

Panlilio, a niece of Myrna Panlilio Borromeo, the first Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 1964, is aiming to bring home the Miss Grand International 2021 title, a most elusive crown for the Filipina after several runner-up finishes since 2013.

“Instead of taking it as pressure and putting all the weight on my shoulder, I’m taking Maureen and Cindy’s win as an inspiration,” said the 25-year-old, model during her send-off party, referring to Cinderella Obeñita and Maureen Montagne’s recent victories in Miss Intercontinental and Miss Globe pageants, respectively.

After Samantha Bernardo’s first runner-up win, it’s Samantha Panlilio’s turn to continue the country’s quest to become a queen in the Miss Grand International pageant.

Born in Cavite, Panlilio lived and studied in the United States earning a bachelor’s degree in information management at the University of California Irvine (UCI) in 2018. From 2016 to 2019, she worked in various capacities in California as brand ambassador of KIND in Orange County; undergraduate research assistant at UCI’s Paul Merage School of Business; account manager at OLN, Inc. and Adtaxi business development representative, both in Los Angeles. In July 2019, she worked as a senior consultant at the CEO Office of Boulevard Holdings Inc. Philippines.

During the COVID-19 surge, Panlilio volunteered to help contribute for the welfare of the frontline workers. Before the pandemic, she headed a Habitat for Humanity International team of volunteers helping rebuild houses in poor communities in China, Indonesia, and the Philippines from 2009 to 2013.

Panlilio has worked hard to perfect her pasarela and to learn how to do make-up and hair on her own as her final preparation for the Bangkok-based pageant. The Philippines’ Samantha Bernardo finished first runner up to Miss USA Abena Appiah in the last edition.
