The MMG Queen of Hearts Foundation, Inc., producer of the Mrs. Queen of Hearts Philippines pageant, recently marked its second ‘White Christmas’ Anniversary celebration.

The MMG Foundation, Inc., headed by founder and CEO Mitzie Go-Gil, canceled its anniversary event at the City Club Alphaland in response to the government’s call prohibiting parties this holiday season but proceeded with its scheduled Christmas Gift-Giving Caravan.

On Christmas eve, the Queen of Hearts caravan visited various areas in Manila and distributed gift packs to poor families and street children. The anniversary celebration also gave a fifty thousand pesos donation for the benefit of the Dumagat Tribe housing project in Sierra Madre, Rizal Province, implemented by the Inner Wheel Club Metro Premier District 381.

Mrs. Queen of Hearts Philippines titleholders gathered for their 2nd anniversary Christmas caravan.

Celebrating two fruitful years of mounting humanitarian and charity outreach programs, the Queen of Hearts Foundation has conducted 62 missions, including “Dugtong Buhay,” a project providing lifeline to children with serious illnesses, and “Brigada Eskwela,” a program providing schools with supplies and books as well as face masks, alcohol and vitamins.

This COVID-19 crisis has given the foundation’s platform a chance to be used to provide a glimmer of hope to the people burdened by the impact of the pandemic.

‘Gwapulis’ Gilbert DC. Cruz takes action at DDB

Usec. P/MGen. Gilberto ‘Gilbert’ DC. Cruz, former director of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) and regarded as the father of ‘Gwapulis’ personalities, continues to show why he is called by many ‘a true public servant.’

Usec. P/MGen. Gilberto ‘Gilbert’ DC. Cruz

Well-liked by the media since his time as director of the PNP Police Community Relations Group (PCRG) now Police Community Affairs and  Development Group (PCDAG), Cruz has embarked on boosting effectivity of the government’s programs and policies in its war against drugs barely a month after he was appointed by the president as permanent member of the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB). Recent DBB actions include the turnover of financial assistance to the Municipalities of Lukban, Quezon; Candon, Ilocos Sur; Kalibo, Aklan; Pagadian City; and Ilocos Norte for the construction of a Community-Based Treatment and Rehabilitation Facility.

It will be recalled that during his time as director of PCRG, Cruz initiated the popular Tatay Digong & Da Adiks puppet show for his anti-drug education campaign in schools, which featured mascots made in the likeness of  President Rodrigo Duterte and then PNP Chief Ronald ‘Bato’ Dela Rosa.

A man of unquestionable principles and integrity, Cruz is a loving husband and father to (mother-daughter beauty queens) Jennifer and Patricia Angela Mindanao Cruz. Jennifer, aka Ina Alegre, former actress and now mayor of Pola, Oriental Mindoro who had recently established the first Pola Community College, was 2015 Mrs. Universe Philippines. Daughter Patricia Angela was crowned Miss Philippine Youth 2020.

A member of PNPA Tagapagtanggol Class ’86, Cruz was once hailed by then PNP chief Nicanor Bartolome, to be highly qualified to be the ‘first non-PMAer” to become Chief PNP with his impressive talents and abilities.

From creating a vastly-improved PNP Academy facilities in just a short span of time and accomplishing a ‘zero coronavirus case’ among the PNPA cadets and personnel before his retirement from the service, the bemedaled and highly-esteemed police officer is bringing his expertise and exemplary accomplishments at PNP to his new position at DDB to help eradicate the persisting drug problem in the country.
