From his play As Like It comes William Shakespeare’s most quoted lines, “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players; they have their exits and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts.”

His words ring true, especially in the present as we all gawk and watch on the stage that is show business and the major players are Bea Alonzo, Gerald Anderson and Julia Barretto.

In fact, the bizarre love triangle has launched a Rashomon plot where one needs to decipher who declared the truth, the nothing but the truth, and the absolute truth.

Bea made “Enough!” iconic. Gerald shared, “It were a series of fights that lead to one big fight,” and the latest, Julia released her “statement.”

With Julia’s version of truth, in an instant, we all could not care less if the Department of Health announced that there was clear and present danger because of the dengue outbreak.

Gretchen Barretto, the aunt of the so labelled millennial nymphet proclaimed that her niece emoloyed a ghost writer. That overshadowed the news about the three days in a row traffic congestion that was made worst because of the habagat induced rains. We did not mind as we wait in bated breath what will Ms. Bea’s reaction  be to the young miss’s official statement.

Since we cannot get enough of the salacious details that the trio d’amoreux portion with all us, the horrible conditions that the Ivatans are currently facing after the earthquake that shook Batanes, seems to be a minor news.

Even the Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen tweeted recently: “Dear Bea and Julia, is he really worth it? #JustAsking”

Thus I cannot help but wonder, isn’t it alarming or pitiful that we prefer to be consumed with gossip instead of our thoughts, indignation and opinions on the political turmoil that are affecting us all?

Since most of us have expressed their take on this most pressing concern, allow me to share my thoughts.

Julia dear, in your career as a relatively young actress, Bea became a stepmom to you in a prime time drama and “Ate” is how you called and treated her, which is why when you addressed her as just BEA in your official statement, it is without a doubt, disrespectful.

Reading your aria, it is overrun with high levels of arrogance and pride. Do you think anyone believes you are the victim here? If you just kept quiet, employed the “silence is my best defense” tactic, it is more dignified. You could have swayed more sympathy votes. More people might not believe that it’s not your fault that you were with Gerald Anderson in a movie that fueled the conflagration that is happening now.

Whoever advised you to do this is foolish and you should have not listened to the gullible part of you. If you believe that you were out of the loop simply because Gerald said you are not the reason for the unfortunate break up, young miss, you are all wrong with holding on to that belief and using it as your ace.

Julia dear, with your defiant statement, all the more people perceive you as guilty. Nobody would buy the victim card story arc you and your team project and the finger pointing and blaming Bea will not atone you from whatever “mistake” you committed. Of course, you can always blame this incident to your youth. Your being young is your biggest salvation because you are still entitled to do stupid things. Hopefully, once the dust has been settled and the doubts are cast aside, you have learned a thing or two.  All our brazen and callous choices, there are consequences and repercussions that follow.

We reap, what we sow, a golden rule that cannot be changed.

Given this entire circumstance, with all our collective beings anxious what will be her reaction, wouldn’t it be wise for us to launch the BEA ALONZO FOR PRESIDENT movement? Laugh out loud!

Is it expedient to conclude then, that we all accept our lives as part and parcel of the bigger stage that are the movies and television shows, and that we all project as actors and actresses? Or let us be frank about it, gossip, for as long it does not involve us, our kin and friends, has become a predilection?
