No more politics for Aga Muhlach

In 2013, actor Aga Muhlach attempted to dethrone the Fuentebellas in Camarines Sur by seeking a seat at the House of Representatives. But fate had other plans for him. He failed on this political move.

“That’s already enough,” stated the 52-year-old actor.

Aga Muhlach returns as one of the judges in the second season of ‘Masked Singer’ airing on TV5 in 2022.

“I used to believe in politics but after seeing so many things, experiencing politics first hand, I realized that it’s enough that I tried. It was a nice experience. I was able to reach out sa kung saan-saan talaga, mga isla, pinuntahan namin, mga barangay sa dagat. Nakita ko ‘yung kabuhayan ng mga tunay na Pilipino. ‘Yung tunay na makita mong…wala pa ring kuryente,” he carried on.

Unlike his fellow actors, Aga had closed his doors to politics after failing to win during his first attempt. His close pal Richard Gomez had also revealed that he tried to convince Aga to give it another try since his heart also belongs to public service.

In an interview with Manila Standard Entertainment, Aga shared that he quite content with his current life. And despite the pandemic, he feels blessed for all his projects.

The actor is one of the resident judges,  alongside Matteo Guidicelli, Cristine Reyes, and Kim Molina, of the Philippine adaptation of Masked Singer. The show that airs on in TV5 is hosted by Billy Crawford.

“I am excited because we are more bonded now—Billy, Matteo, Kim, and Cristine. We’re all happy,” enthused Aga.

Masked Singer Pilipinas is set to have it second season in 2022 with new twists and world-class performances, a year after Daryl Ong was announced as the grand champion of the first season.

“I want to work longer pero gusto ko ‘yung happy ako. So, when Masked Singer knocked again, that we’re doing Season 2, I said, ‘Thank you, that would be nice.”

Moreover, he also has hosting gigs with two shows on Net25—Game Agad-Agad and Bida Ka Kay Aga.

“I am also happy with those shows because it’s a totally different environment.”

When asked if he has plans to do movie projects, the ‘80s matinee idol hopes to do acting again when “everything’s okay, and once a lot of people are already vaccinated.”

“We’re hoping next year. Kasi sabi ko kahit 50 percent lang kahit next year, ayoko pa. Sayang. I will wait na lang,” Aga said alluding to the current set up of cinema houses following the safety and health protocols implemented.

“We’re hoping next year. Sana next year, December, bakunado na lahat ng buong Pilipinas mas lalakas ang loob ng tao.”

The last movie that Aga did was the hit Miracle Cell No. 7, an official entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival in 2019.
