KEEPING THE FAITH. Model and triathlete Alexandra Faith Garcia, 26, from Olongapo City, is hoping for second time’s the charm as she joins Binibining Pilipinas again this year.

The 26-year-old model and triathlete, who hails from Olongapo City, is competing for the second time in Bb. Pilipinas pageant after joining in 2016. A dead ringer for Fil-Am singer Nicole Scherzinger, Faith was a student-athlete being a member of her high school swimming team which helped her through school. She finished a degree in Tourism at Columban College in Olongapo City in 2014, the year that she took interest in the sport of triathlon.

She takes her strength in her being a model and athlete, which involves a lot of preparation, motivation, and determination.

“I think being a triathlete, which is highly a physical sport for men, I show that women can do also what men can do,” Faith asserted.

Faith’s advocacy on healthy living, especially, among the youth, stemmed from her father who was paralyzed half of the body brought partly by excessive smoking. Faith also supports women empowerment and equality.

“As a woman, I celebrate the truth about women empowerment. It is a celebration of equality. That in every situation, there should always be these well-deserved opportunities given, not just for men, but also for women and members of LGBT community. The world has changed. Now, more than ever, it is time to embrace our own sense of identity. Let us help elevate discourse for the LGBT+ community, its allies, and the society they belong in. I ask everyone to help shape public perception and reinforce social changes. Get involved—let your voice be heard,” Faith said in an Instagram post.

Faith, who trains under the Kagandahang Flores (KF) beauty camp of Rodgil Flores, will don a dove warrior—symbol of peace—national costume, designed by Jorick Lopez Limpag inspired by the Ulo ng Apo myth from where Olongapo’s name originated.

The next batch of beauty queens in the new normal setting at Binibining Pilipinas 2020/2021 will be crowned on April 17.
