Bong Revilla’s ‘amazing’ new way to celebrate the holidays

Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla's “Amazing Ang Pasko Christmas Giveaway” two weekends ago (Dec.19 to 20) made a number of Filipinos happy after the actor-politician distributed cash prizes and livelihood packages.

Earlier, Revilla distributed thousands of gadgets to students for online learning set by the Department of Education (DepEd).

Thousands of teachers also received the much-needed laptops and cellphones for this new normal in carrying out education in the midst of crises- a tribute to their relentless dedication to educating the youth. 

Since then, requests for continuing support have poured into Sen. Bong's office, to include other sectors who have been displaced due to COVID-19.

Thus, Revilla didn't only give away gadgets but also Noche Buena packages and Kap’s Pangkabuhayan (Livelihood) Packages to get started with small sustainable businesses.

The "Amazing Ang Pasko Christmas Giveaway" lasted almost four hours and was witnessed by thousands of netizens. On its first day (Dec. 19), the virtual event registered 1,471,445 people reach, 1,309,015 engagements, 79,000 shares, 83,400 Comments, 34,000 reactions, and 36,500 Views.

On Dec. 20, it had 1,754,482 people reach, 1,407,186 engagement, 663 thousand comments, 153,810 shares,  561 thousand views, and 53 thousand likes.

The P2 million jackpot entailed a simple game, in which a number of tearful participants won P100,000 each. 

Sen. Revilla wished to give away these cash and goodies, deeply touched by the emotional outpouring shown by the participants.

The "Wheel of Fortune Game" revealed sad stories of home viewers in dire need of hospitalization money.

Apart from the cash prizes (P50,000, P40,000, and P30,000) in the "Wheel of Fortune Game," Sen. Revilla pledged to also pay for the hospital bills of winners' sick relatives.

In the portion called "Nochebuenamizer," the first 1000 viewers to write down on comment section #AmazingAngPasko won P1000 each.

This Christmas thanksgiving was part of Revilla's gratitude for his upcoming teleserye Agimat Ng Agila on GMA 7, his first-ever since he was re-elected as a senator.

The "Amazing Ang Pasko Christmas Giveaway" seen live on Facebook and YouTube was hosted by Revilla himself, with wife Bacoor Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla, son Cavite Vice-Governor Jolo Revilla, Moymoy Palaboy, and Benjie Paras.
