Fil-Dutch Alex Roeland Visser, 21, plays the center position for San Beda Red Lions and Metropac-San Beda.

Toughness, perseverance, and determination are additional traits that drive athletes to overcome obstacles in life. Whether on the court or in real life, this young athlete epitomizes the kind of resiliency that dreams are made of. Meet the future basketball star in Alex Roeland Visser. 

Born on May 9, 1999, the 6-foot-4 cager is currently playing as center for San Beda Red Lions and Metropac-San Beda in PBA D-League. He studied in Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu before going to Manila to play for San Beda College Red Lions. He is currently taking up Marketing Management. 

Alex started playing basketball when he was 15. 

“I initially taught myself because nobody in my family really shared the same interest in basketball,” said the 21-year-old Filipino Dutch mutt who also shared, “I don’t necessarily have an idol (in the sport). I enjoy watching NBA but there’s nobody there that I really specifically look up to.”

Alex avoids junk food and soft drinks and try to stay away from fast food to maintain a physically healthy body. He also trains almost every day for basketball and goes to the gym.

“The best thing about being a basketball player is just the whole experience. The people you meet, the games you play, the experiences you have. It’s irreplaceable,” Alex underscored.
