A few days after securing a five-year management contract with GMA Artist Center, AiAi de las Alas had a virtual catch up with some select members of the entertainment press where the 55-year-old seasoned comedienne shared what her plans are and what her mother network has prepared for her to celebrate a milestone in her career—her 30th year in showbiz.
Speaking from her home, and wearing a shimmering gold PPE, she immediately asked everyone present in the virtual meeting how they were, talking casually like she was welcoming the scribes into her residence.
According to AiAi, baking and cooking kept her busy the entire quarantine period. She was quite amazed at the new way to communicate with the press even teasing some senior scribes for not being able to make the app (Zoom) work correctly.
“This is so cool, this new normal teaches us a lot of new things,” she said in vernacular.
While she returned on GMA Network lot in 2015 by signing a two-year contract, it’s the first time that AiAi is entrusting her career to the station’s talent management arm.
“When I returned to GMA in 2015, it was just a two-year contract. Now, it took me quite some time to formalize my partnership with them because I wanted to do it on my 30th year in showbiz, which coincides with the network’s 70th year. Di ba, terno?” she told Manila Standard.
During the virtual interview, AiAi shared what her fans can look forward to in the coming months.
“Napaka-daming ganap. Mayroon akong soap, The Clash Season 3, and I have out of the country shows that we are trying to prepare once safe na mag-travel at mag-mount ng live shows,” she said.
The comedienne hopes that her new partnership with GMAAC will open more doors for her. A few of her fellow Kapuso artists she looks forward to work with in the future are Alden Richards and Sanya Lopez.
“I haven’t done any soap with them. So, I really want to work with Sanya and Alden. With Sanya, gandang ganda ako sa kanya, bagay kaming mag-ina or siguro kambal kame. With Alden, he’s my baby ever since, so I’ll be his mom in a soap. I know my place, I can’t be his love interest kasi ibabash ako ng fans niya for sure,” she ended in jest.
