Like the female characters in our favorite TV shows, women in real life carry the weight of balancing their lives and dreams, their loved ones’ needs, and even other people’s opinions of them. Fortunately, there’s no shortage of TV heroines whose resilience jumps out of the screen and tells us that yes, we can do it, too.
Every day, and especially this Women’s Month, we celebrate these inspiring women in Kapamilya TV series who remind us of our own strength:
1. Alyana of ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’
More than just beauty and grace, Alyana (Yassi Pressman) started off as a persistent journalist with a drive for the truth. 2. Billy of ‘Make It With You’
Hardworking Billy (Liza Soberano) went overseas to Croatia, away from her family, just to provide for them—even taking on unconventional jobs. 3. Lourdes of ‘A Soldier’s Heart’
She may be the only woman in their squad, but Lourdes (Sue Ramirez) is its steadfast leader. A certified badass, she is stern when she needs to be, and is empathetic when her team needs it. She remains strong and courageous while fighting for the country – all while she’s nursing a grieving heart.
4. Jia of ‘Love Thy Woman’
As the daughter of her father’s second wife, Jia (Kim Chiu)was raised to be generous and independent even when she struggled to prove her place in the family and their company. After being shunned away by her family, beating cancer, and mourning the death of her baby, Jia rose like a phoenix from the ashes and is all set to make a name for herself.
5. Mia of ‘24/7’
Despite working the night shift, Mia (Julia Montes) never fails to make time for her son. She supports his fascination with science at a young age, and even takes up extra work just to save up for a laptop that he could use. All hell broke loose when Xander’s life was on the line, and she had to go against powerful people just to get the cure—even if it costs her own life.
