Seventeen’s Jeonghan begins mandatory military enlistment 

K-pop idol Jeonghan of the Korean boy group Seventeen began his mandatory military enlistment on Thursday, Sept. 26. 

According to Korean media, Jeonghan has entered a training center to undergo basic military training and will serve as a social service worker to fulfill his military duties.

Ahead of his enlistment, the 28-year-old singer shared photos on Instagram for his fans to cherish during his temporary break from group activities. He also took to the fan community app Weverse to bid farewell to fans and the group’s fandom, known as CARATs.

“I won’t lose the thankful heart I have for CARATs who are always sending me lots of love,” Jeonghan wrote. He also assured fans that, although he won’t be present, he will continue to support his fellow members. “For a while, I will always be cheering with CARATs for the members’ promotions.”

The “Beautiful Monster” singer further reassured fans of his well-being, saying, “Eat well and sleep well. I’ll be fine, so don’t worry! CARATs, be healthy and well, too, and let’s see each other again. I’ll come back well.”

Meanwhile, the group’s leader, S.Coups, expressed the members’ support for Jeonghan, stating, “We will be working hard right from where we are.”  

Seventeen, a 13-member group, is set to return to the Philippines on Jan. 18 and 19, 2025, as part of their SEVENTEEN IS RIGHT HERE World Tour.
