Puso in Paris 2024 isn’t just a series—it’s a story that will move and inspire millions of Filipinos. Whether you’re an athlete chasing your dreams, someone finding your way, or just a fan looking for inspiration and fun, this series offers something to uplift your spirit.

The first episode features Carlos Yulo, the “Golden Boy” of Philippine gymnastics. In this episode, which has been viewed more than 250,000 times since its premiere on July 18 on Smart’s YouTube channel, Yulo discusses how this Olympics differs from his challenging experience at Tokyo 2020.

\“Back in 2020, I wasn’t confident. I knew I could perform well, but I felt stuck. Now, I’m more open to the world,” Caloy says in the video.

\“I knew I wanted to be an Olympian when I was 12, watching Kohei Uchimura from Japan at the 2012 London Olympics. His moves were amazing and looked so easy, even though they were difficult. That’s why I wanted to compete,” the 24-year-old gymnast continues.

The Olympic gold medalist has a preference for floor exercise and vault

Caloy likens gymnastics to ballet, emphasizing the need for grace and precision. He believes it’s his true calling.

“I’m really good at gymnastics, and I feel like it’s where I belong,” he says.

Caloy elaborates on the challenges: “Every gymnast has their own routine. If something becomes too difficult or stressful, I stop. It’s important to manage stress to maintain performance.”

He finds the floor exercise particularly demanding: “Even if you think you’ve got it, it can still be tricky. Vault requires perfect timing, strength, and a solid landing. I focus on this, but it’s not as hard as the floor or rings.”

Caloy reveals his favorites: “The floor exercise and vault are my top events. After those, I enjoy the T-bar, followed by the rings, and lastly, the pommel horse.”

Caloy wants more people to try gymnastics and see how enjoyable it can be.

Carlos Yulo believes that his true calling lies in gymnastics

“Even if they don’t become professionals, I want them to try gymnastics. You always learn from losses or mistakes. In sports, you’ll face many challenges, but persistence is key. Your time to shine will come,” he concludes.

The second episode aired on July 19. It features boxers like Nesthy Petecio and Eumir Marcial. In this episode, they discuss how boxing helped them rise from modest beginnings.

The third episode highlights weightlifters Vanessa Sarno, Elreen Ando, and John Ceniza, who follow in the footsteps of the Philippines’ first Olympic champion, Hidilyn Diaz. The series concludes with World No. 2 pole vaulter EJ Obiena.
