Content creators Rosmar and Rendon Labador might be facing possible persona non grata status in Coron, Palawan, following their contentious visit to Mayor Marjo Reyes’ office on the weekend.
In a viral clip, the vloggers were seen confronting one of Reyes’ staff members, Jho Cayabyab Trinidad, over critical online remarks wherein she accused the duo, branded as “#TeamMalakas”, of taking advantage of Coron’s residents for their vlogs which the two claimed it as the charity event aimed to assist the residents and “promote” its tourism.
The comments also mentioned that some people allegedly did not receive aid despite the vloggers’ relief efforts.
Despite an apology from Trinidad, the incident has sparked controversy, with local council member Juan Patricio Eyes proposing a resolution in the Sangguniang Bayan to declare Rosmar and Rendon Labador persona non grata in Coron.
This resolution, if passed, could signify that the individuals are not welcome in the municipality, though it lacks legal enforcement to prevent their entry.
Meanwhile, in a post shared on her Facebook page, Mayor Reyes initiated an investigation into the matter and expressed disappointment over the incident, emphasizing the need for appropriate actions following the gathering of relevant documents and complaints.
“Inatasan niya ang nasabing departamento na ikalap ang lahat ng mga dokumento, opisyal na mga reklamo at mga viral videos para sa mga susunod na hakbangin at aksyon na gagawin,” the post read.
Labador, on the other hand, responded to the probe by thanking Mayor Reyes and pledging continued support for Coron’s tourism and local businesses through initiatives under #TeamMalakas.
“Maraming salamat po Mayor Marjo Reyes in behalf of #TeamMalakas supporta po kami sa Coron, Palawan para mapalakas ang turismo at mga nagsisimulang negosyo. Ang #TeamMalakas ay patuloy na tutulong sa mga nangangailangan. #LabLabLabador,” wrote Rendon.
