Diwata Pares Overload opens Quezon City branch, owner shares humble start on Marvin Agustin’s vlog

Diwata Pares Overload has been making rounds on social media, leading many celebrities and other internet personalities to try out the acclaimed pares for themselves. Actor and chef Marvin Agustin joined this growing number and paid a visit to the trending food establishment as well as the one behind it all, entrepreneur turned social media personality Diwata.

In the first episode of his online show “Sige Ngaaa” on his official YouTube channel, Agustin took the time to head to the main Diwata Pares Overload branch in Pasay.

Diwata showed him around the place where Agustin got to try the famous “Pares Overload” along with other food on the menu like Diwata’s specialty chicken “Siken Joy.” After the meal, Agustin played a few games with Diwata like Chinese Garter and Tumbang Preso.

Following their antics, Agustin sat down with Diwata where he told him about the story behind his success.

”Sa amin kasi, mahirap talaga ang buhay sa probinsya… Samar ako [nakatira dati] eh. Ang hanap buhay kasi doon, mga farmers…” said Diwata.

He recounted how he went to Metro Manila when he was around the age of 17 because he thought that life would be easier there but was left disappointed as he jumped from jobs like being a fruit vendor, a helper, and a construction worker.

Diwata further shared how he came to live under a bridge as he wandered around, which was when he lost his job as a construction worker during the onset of the pandemic and discovered that he could sell things like cigarettes, coffee, softdrinks, and other goods. While it was booming for a while, his late friend Mama Randy suggested that he should sell food as well.

“Sabi niya ‘mas madali ang pera kung dadagdagan natin ng pagkain yan. Mas malakas yung kita mo doon, mas malaki.’” said Diwata, quoting his late friend who was also the one who taught him how to cook.

With his learnings from Mama Randy, Diwata made his recipes for his hit pares recipe as well as the other food on his menu, which eventually gained ground as it sees long lines of customers waiting to try out their offerings almost every day.

Diwata also shared that he was focused on growing his business and serving his food to his customers with Diwata Pares Overload’s newest branch in Quezon City, which had its soft opening last May 26. He added that he was now open to franchising discussions.

“Sige Ngaaa” is a show where Agustin explores challenges, food spots, and trendy finds.
