After the growing backlash he received from the viral video accusing him of stealing clips for his “Piliin Mo Ang Pilipinas” challenge entry, content creator Whamos Cruz has finally released a video addressing the situation.

In his 17-minute video on Facebook, Whamos Cruz apologized for using clips without permission in his video. The clips, from JAK Seventy-Three’s 2023 Sinulog Festival video, caused controversy among netizens.

In the video and the post’s comments section, Whamos Cruz apologized on behalf of his editor, who claimed to be the one at fault.

“Hindi ako yung may kasalanan dito na bakit may na-involve na clip video dun… ako po ay isang vlogger, content creator. Gumagawa lang din naman ng video pero hindi ibig sabihin nun ako na po ay isang editor or videographer,” said Whamos Cruz.

“Hindi po ako yung nag-install ng video na yun. Ang nag-install ng video na yun sa entry ko is yung editor ko,” he added.

The content creator also said that JAK Seventy-Three should have sent a message instead of making a video about the incident.

While several fans took to his side, many netizens were unsatisfied with Whamos Cruz’s statement, saying that he should have taken accountability and not blamed everything on the editor. Some also tried to explain the struggle of videographers such as JAK Seventy-Three when it comes to shooting their videos and that they do not deserve to have their hard work stolen.

Whamos Cruz is a social media personality who rose to fame with his comedic videos on TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook.
