It’s true that ‘the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.’ Case in point, Mavy and Cassy Legaspi have officially followed in their parents’ footsteps when they became part GMA’s roster of artists by inking management contracts with GMA Artist Center just last Thursday, July 26.

The twins of Carmina Villaroel and Zoren Legaspi have literally grown up right before the public eyes being brand endorsers and commercial models since they were toddlers. Now at 17, these young achievers are expected to be doing more than TVCs and promotions as they started appearing in numerous TV shows. They have also participated in acting workshops conducted by GMA-7.

Indeed, the two are taking the next level in showbiz and pursue acting with the support of their parents.

Mavy sounded ecstatic when he admitted he always wanted to be in showbiz. “Growing up, Cassy didn’t actually see it. It has always been me. I want to do it, try it, enter showbiz but right now maybe Cassy sees the joy in it. It’s really fun especially here in GMA. They welcomed us with open arms and that’s what I really like about it.”

PICTURE-PERFECT FAMILY. Twins Cassy and Mavy join their parents Zoren and Carmina as talents of GMA Network.

Cassy has a distinct path in mind, and a Kapuso singer has inspired her decision. “I actually look up to Julie Anne San Jose. I’ve looked up to her since before, because she’s very talented. She’s so good at singing and she’s an all-around artist. I love her so much. I’m thinking of leaning towards singing as well that’s why I look up to Julie.”

Carmina and Zoren, who are also both Kapuso artists, are looking forward to have their family work under the same network with the latter acting as co-manager.

“Ganito pala yung feeling kapag behind the camera tapos yung mga anak mo lang yung nandoon. I’m very happy and I’m really proud of them,” Carmina said.

Zoren then showed his soft spot for the twins, “Ako, may lungkot kasi pag naging busy sila, busy ka, busy ako, hindi na tayo magkikita. Yun yung fear ko, hindi kami magkikita-kita.”

The signing of the twins’ management contract was attended by GMA Senior Vice President for Entertainment Group Lilybeth G. Rasonable, Senior Assistant Vice President for Alternative Productions Gigi Santiago-Lara, Assistant Vice President for Talent Imaging and Marketing Simoun S. Ferrer and Senior Talent Manager Vic del Rosario.

Rasonable, in turn, sees the Legaspi family as an asset to the Kapuso Network, “While I was watching their interviews, I can see that they are so fun as a family. It would be nice to see them altogether act, especially in very light family dramas or comedies. That’s something that is very possible.”
