Maine Mendoza is working on her first book

This year is turning out to be a very productive and fulfilling year for Maine Mendoza. Fresh from her highly praised performance in Eat Bulaga’s Lenten Special, the 22-year-old star is slated to add another feather in her cap: her very own book.

Maine confirmed in a blog post that she is currently working on her first book. She did not reveal the release date for the book, but it is expected come out this year under Summit Books, the same company that published Alden Richards’ book In My Own Words.

She is writing the book during her free time, in between her showbiz commitments. The actress-TV host even worked on her book during her recent one-week stay in the United States.

“I am currently working on my book. Another reason why I find it really hard to make time for myself and other things because I have weekly deadlines for the book! Actually kaya dala ko itong laptop ko kasi magsusulat pa din ako sa Amerika,” she said.

How is her book going to be different from the numerous showbiz-themed publications that are currently on bookshelves?

“I’m writing it. Ito kasi, talagang ako ang nagsusulat. Walang ghostwriter. Ako ngayon, pinaghahandaan ko na yung lahat ng isusulat ko.”

The book will be in the vein of her personal blog, The Pessimistic Optimist Bella, which she has been maintaining for over five years now, before she even entered showbiz. Like her blog entries, the content of her book will be very personal. “It’s more about my personal life — my personal experiences, my feelings. It’s not just about Yaya Dub or the characters I have played in the movies or TV. It’s really about Maine Mendoza,” she said.

No ghostwriter for Maine Mendoza

She is also ready to face the criticism that may come as she embarks in this new endeavor.

“Ako kasi, sobrang pessimistic akong tao. Kaya nasanay na rin ako. I really take time to visit their accounts para basahin yung sinasabi nila sa akin. I check pero hindi ako nagre-respond sa kanila. Tinitignan ko lang yung mga sinasabi nila sa akin. Weird but it doesn’t affect me that much; it actually feeds me. In a way, feeling ko nagiging motivation ko rin yung bashers,” she said.

More than anything, however, Maine is excited to share to her fans her thoughts and feelings via her book.

Apart from the book, Maine is busy with Eat Bulaga and the GMA primetime soap opera Destined To Be Yours. The soap opera star said she is still adjusting to acting life but is nonetheless doing her best for her fans and supporters.

“Nahirapan ako. Unang-una, kasi hindi naman ako sanay sa pag-arte. Bigla na lang akong napasok sa ganito. From hosting bigla akong nag-shift sa acting which, I can say, is one of my biggest accomplishments,” shared Maine.

“Hindi ako nakapag-take ng enough workshops before the start of the show.  Pero ako, ginagawa ko naman yung best ko rin, lalo na sa Destined to Be Yours. Ayoko naman din na i-let down yung mga taong sumusuporta at nagmamahal sa akin.”
