P-pop group 1621 has entered Spotify Philippines’ Viral Songs chart with their single Bababa, which recently peaked at No. 26.
The track, taken from their latest EP Sapulso, has surpassed 300,000 streams and sparked a dance trend on social media, with personalities like AC Bonifacio, BGYO, SB19, and Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11’s Kolette Madelo joining in.
The six-member group—JM, JC, Pan, Win, Migz, and DJ—said the success of Bababa marks a turning point in their music. In an interview with entertainment site Push, member JM shared how audience feedback helped them realize the song suited their identity as a group
“We noticed how people responded to this kind of sound—it felt more natural when we performed it. We were more confident and comfortable,” JM said.
The single has been featured in several Spotify editorial playlists, including OPM Rising, PPop On The Rise, Viral Hits PH, and New Music Friday PH.
1621 performed Bababa live at the Pinoy Media Congress 2025, a conference for communications students held at the University of Makati and organized by ABS-CBN and the Philippine Association of Communication Educators (PACE).
Earlier this year, they also took the stage during the halftime show at the PBA Finals Game and performed at the pre-show of the BINIverse World Tour 2025 at the Philippine Arena.
