Mate is emerging as a strong contender among the 24 candidates heading into the finals, set for Sunday (Monday in Manila) in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. The 22-year-old communication technology graduate was also named among the Top 5 Miss Turismo finalists, along with other crown favorites Yessica Ibarra of Bolivia, Karelys Prieto of Ecuador, Júlia de Castro of Brazil, and Sofia Fernandez of Venezuela, who was also awarded the title Miss Elegancia del Reina Hispanoamericana 2025.
Mate’s national costume, designed by Ehrran Montoya, is a stunning tribute to the country’s rich cultural heritage. Inspired by the Baroque churches of the Philippines, it features more than 150,000 crystals, intricate gold okkir patterns from Mindanao, feather pen and lamp accessories, and is topped with a native salakot headpiece.
