After nearly 25 years, Vina Morales is returning to GMA, the network where she began her television career. She is set to headline the upcoming drama series Cruz vs. Cruz, marking her comeback to soap operas after last appearing in Marry Me, Marry You on ABS-CBN three years ago.
I’m really excited about this project. The title alone is very catchy and intriguing. It’s been a while since I last did a soap, so this is a great comeback for me on GMA,” Vina said.
Vina expressed excitement about her return, highlighting the show’s intriguing title and compelling storyline. She had received offers in the past year but was unable to commit due to her engagements in the United States, including a stint in the Broadway production Here Lies Love in New York. She also staged concerts alongside David Pomeranz and Jim Brickman, putting her acting career on hold temporarily.
With Cruz vs. Cruz, she looks forward to working with a new cast, which includes Gladys Reyes, Kristoffer Martin, Lexi Gonzales, Neil Ryan Sese, Gilleth Sandico, Pancho Magno, Caprice Cayetano, Cassy Lavarias, and Elijah Alejo. She acknowledged the challenge of returning to teleseryes after a long break but sees it as an opportunity to reignite her passion for acting.
“I think it’s natural to feel a bit nervous. All performers—actors, singers, or dancers—experience that before starting a new project. If you don’t have jitters, you’re probably too comfortable.
“I still prefer feeling a little nervous because it keeps the excitement alive. Of course, preparation is key. First and foremost, I need to study my character—that’s where it all begins.”
The series explores themes of family, sibling relationships, and business conflicts, offering a storyline that she believes will resonate with viewers. She hopes audiences will embrace the show when it premieres.
