Spectacular visuals, unpredictable twists, brilliant performances await in ‘Widows’ War’

There are three main things viewers should look forward to in Zig Dulay’s Widows’ War, headlined by Carla Abellana and Bea Alonzo.

At the recent press conference for the series, which premieres tonight on GMA, Carla listed three compelling elements of the small screen project that viewers can eagerly anticipate.

“First, the spectacular visuals from our director; second, the story’s unpredictability—just because she’s the lead doesn’t mean she’s the one who kills or becomes the victim, so you have to pay attention to the quiet characters on the side; and third, the brilliant performance of Bea Alonzo,” the actress told the press.

Meanwhile, Bea shared her excitement about joining the show, mentioning that it was her first time working with almost all members of the cast. Despite this, their teamwork has been smooth, making the journey of creating the project rewarding right from the start.

“I feel very fortunate to be part of this project, especially after seeing the teaser for it. It’s my first time seeing it,” she began.

“When you’re working on a project, you never really know what the outcome will be. It’s like solving a puzzle, and the way it has come together is really beautiful. It makes me very proud,” Bea continued.

Bea takes on the role of Samantha/Sam while Carla plays Georgina/George. Their lives will turn upside down when they get involved with the wealthy Palacios clan.

Based on the original concept of RJ Nuevas and Ken De Leon, “Widows’ War” revolves around Sam and George, former best friends who will go head-to-head to find out who between them is the real sinner or saint.

Sam and George blame each other for an unfortunate event their families experience and everything that follows. Soon, they cross paths again while mourning their husbands. Their sanity and reputation are put at risk when they become suspects in the sudden deaths of Paco and Basil.

As the two widows try to clean their own names, Sam and George uncover a web of lies and deceit. Will they choose to bring each other down or will they become allies to solve the murder mystery?

“I believe in this material. I believe in imparting to the audience that it’s not just a murder mystery; it also provides lessons such as valuing friendships, family, and truth,” series director Zig Dulay shared.

The cast of Widows’ War includes Tonton Gutierrez, Jeric Gonzales, Juancho Triviño, Jackie Lou Blanco, Lito Pimentel, Timmy Cruz, Rita Daniela, Royce Cabrera, Lovely Rivero, James Graham, Charlie Flemming, Matthew Uy, and Jean Garcia. Joining them are Benjamin Alves and Rafael Rosell in special roles.

Widows’ War premieres tonight on GMA Prime. It airs weeknights at 8:50 and has a delayed telecast on GTV at 10:50 p.m.
