49th MMFF best actor Cedrick Juan shares journey from theater to big screen 

Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Best Actor Cedrick Juan, who portrayed Padre Burgos in the film Gomburza, talks about his journey from theater to independent films to bit and lead roles in mainstream movies.

In the news magazine show, Tao Po, host Bernadette Sembrano gets to know Cedrick as he tells the story of fighting for his dream to become an actor despite objections from his family. The MMFF awardee also shares future career plans and goals this 2024.

Cedrick has been part of 18 films and 15 television dramas since launching his acting career in 2008. Early on, he engaged with Dulaang UP at the University of the Philippines and the FEU-Art Theatre Clinique at Far Eastern University.

Theater enthusiasts recognize Cedrick for his recent role in the musical Mula sa Buwan, a musical adaptation of Edmond Rostand’s Cyrano De Bergerac.

Last year, he landed the role of Fr. Jose Burgos in the historical drama Gomburza, a dramatization of the events leading to the execution of the titular martyr priests implicated in the Cavite Mutiny. Initially auditioning for a different role, Cedrick was approached by the movie’s director, Pepe Diokno, who offered him the opportunity to portray Fr. Burgos instead.
