“From my heart, I don’t have words to describe what I feel and the pride of receiving this at the Yankee Stadium,” he said, in Spanish. “I always knew that I could become a huge artist without changing my culture, my slang, and my language. I am Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, from Puerto Rico, to the world.”

Bad Bunny’s other iconic VMA moment was kissing a female and male backup dancer in his performance of the song, “Titi Me Pregunto,” from his 5th album, Un Verano Sin Ti.  This act led to a frenzy of support on the internet.

The Puerto Rican singer is also a supporter of LGBTQIA+ rights. In 2019, he actively supported protests against former Puerto Rican Governor Ricardo Roselló’s homophobia and corruption.

In previous years, Bad Bunny received nominations for Song of the Summer 2018 and Best Latin Video for 2019 to 2021.
