After receiving positive reviews from Filipino audiences locally and internationally, Lolong, the action-packed fantasy series from GMA-7, continues to delight viewers as the show enters a new chapter.

Ruru Madrid is grateful for the support he receives as the lead star for ‘Lolong’

The show’s lead star, Ruru Madrid, wasn’t expecting a warm turnout from fans but remains grateful for their support. In the show’s next chapter, Ruru will get another opportunity to work alongside established and neophyte actors in the industry to bring more depth to the show.

Joining him are Vin Abrenica, Thea Tolentino, Alma Concepcion, Rafael Rosell, and Lucho Ayala.

Alma plays Ruru’s aunt in Lolong and helps him realize their tribe’s full potential as he reconnects with his roots. Thea also portrays a member of the Atubaw tribe who is pregnant with the child of Vin’s character. As the story progresses, the audience will learn more about her child’s relevance.

Vin, however, shared that viewers should watch out for his character’s development as they’ve yet to determine whether he’s an enemy or an ally.
“Isa akong Atubaw. Na-witness niya (his character Diego) lahat ng mga pang-aapi sa mga Atubaw so malalim talaga yung galit niya dito,” Vin said during an online media conference.

Lastly, Rafael is a priest who values all life, whether it’s people, plants, or animals.

The next chapter of Lolong also introduces Lucho as Victor, Abet’s (DJ Durano) best friend. Although he doesn’t fight alongside Lolong, he will lend his hand whenever possible. Still, he encourages audiences to stay tuned to the series as the tides could turn on the Lolong and his tribe at any moment.

As the new cast members, Vin, Thea, Alma, Rafael, and Lucho all feel grateful for being included in a well-loved series.

“Sobrang happy ako na maging part nitong Lolong kasi talagang napakaganda ng story nito. Ang pinakapaborito ko about is yung mahalaga ang bawat character, and lalo na ngayon na may bagong chapter, talagang mas magiging intense lahat ng labanan,” Thea said.

Meanwhile, Alma shares the sentiments and feels excited to be a part of the next chapter of Lolong.

Thea Tolentino is a member of the Atubaw tribe who bears Diego’s child

“Sa buhay ng isang aktor, talagang maghihintay ka ng mga ganitong klaseng break and ganitong klaseng kataba ang utak ng script. There are so many projects that will come and go pero very few lang ang masasabi ko na very unforgettable,” Alma added.

Besides the new cast, the original members of the show will also further their roles as Lolong dives into new depths of storytelling. Viewers can expect to see more of the characters played by Shaira Diaz, Arra San Agustin, Christopher de Leon, Jean Garcia, Bembol Roco, Malou de Guzman, Rochelle Pangilinan, and Paul Salas.

Beginning August 15, viewers are in for more revelations and action-packed scenes as the biggest adventure-serye on Philippine primetime, “Lolong,” enters a new chapter

Regardless of the show’s outcome and a new chapter, Ruru is happy to be a crucial part of Lolong.

“I’m just grateful kasi alam kong binuhos naming lahat para sa programa. Bukod sa entertainment, nakakapagbigay kami ng aral at inspirasyon. Sobrang sarap sa loob kasi alam namin na lahat ng pinaghirapan namin nagbunga na,” he said.

Lolong airs from Monday to Friday, 8:00 p.m. on GMA Telebabad. Viewers can also catch it at 9:40 p.m. on GTV and GMA Public Affairs’ social media accounts.
