Director Lawrence Fajardo had to read about the late Peque Gallaga to understand his thought process when making a film. Though he knew the iconic director personally he did not have enough references apart from old files and his memory of the director to help him recreate one of his controversial works.
“First time I saw the film was in 2001, and I instantly fell in love with the movie because I really like gore and dark movies. I read stories about Direk Peque and imagine how he would recreate the film. And, whenever he is now, I wish he would approve of my version,” Fajardo said of the 1985 Scorpio Nights.
Fajardo is behind other provocative and steamy films including X-Deal 2, Reroute, Mahjong Nights, and Nerisa.
A Vivamax Original Movie, Scorpio Nights 3 is an erotic-thriller film that follows the story of Matt (Gold Aceron), an engineering student living in an old apartment building just above the unit of his new neighbors, live-in partners Pinay (Christine Bermas), a cam girl, and Drake (Mark Anthony Fernandez), a fiscal’s bodyguard.
Matt secretly fantasizes over Pinay and constantly peeps through the hole on his floorboard whenever Pinay would make love to Mark or tease her clients online as a cam girl. Unknown to Matt, Pinay knows about his actions and would purposely seduce him. The two eventually make love, hoping not to get caught by Pinay’s dominant and violent boyfriend.
Peque Gallaga’s Scorpio Nights 3 is based on the 1985 movie of the same name starring Daniel Fernando and Anna Marie Gutierrez. The film also had a sequel in 1999 that starred Joyce Jimenez and Albert Martinez.
Meanwhile, Bermas felt both excited and pressured as the film’s lead star knowing she has some big shoes to fill for the modern retelling of Scorpio Nights.
“I felt a lot of pressure the moment I was told that I got the part. I felt excited, and at the same time I also felt nervous,” Bermas said alluding to her role as a desirable woman who makes a young man’s greatest fantasies and wildest desires finally come true.
