Sexy star Cloe Barretto proves there’s more to her as an actress than what meets the eye. In her latest movie Tahan, she stars alongside veteran actress Jaclyn Jose.

Cloe Barretto takes on the lead role of Elise in ‘Tahan’

Cloe, although nervous, surprisingly matches Jaclyn’s energy throughout the sexy thriller.

In the film, Cloe plays Elise while Jaclyn plays her mother, Nora. It’s not the usual mother-daughter since Nora sold Elise as an escort at 11. As Elise grew older, she slowly became unhinged with all the trauma she had experienced in her job.

Elise and her mother clash throughout the film as they navigate through life, especially with Elise wanting to leave the life of a high-priced female escort. However, Nora is against it since she’s financially reliant on her daughter.

Cloe didn’t hold back in any of the scenes. Aside from the sexy scenes, Cloe also efficiently played the role of a mentally ill person. During the media preview of Tahan, she shared that she felt like the cursed doll Chucky in one scene where she’s bloodied from head to toe and handling guts and entrails.

By the end of Tahan, Cloe leaves viewers astounded with the plot twist befitting a horror thriller film.

Yet working with a veteran actress didn’t come easy, especially since Cloe is a fan of Jaclyn. She felt pressure to live up to the award-winning actress’s performance. Jaclyn, on the other hand, wanted Cloe to relax.

The sexy actress shared that Jaclyn was pretty chill throughout their shooting, eventually making her comfortable no matter how heavy their scenes were. Jaclyn also offered a significant piece of advice when filming intimate scenes.

According to Cloe, Jaclyn advised her to give her all during the first take to avoid redoing the scene repeatedly, further exposing herself unnecessarily.

It also helped Cloe that their director, Bobby Bonifacio Jr., guided her whenever she felt pressured while acting alongside Jaclyn.

As the writer for ‘Tahan,’ Quinn draws inspiration from people she knows in real life

Quinn Carillo, who plays Michelle, Elise’s best friend, is behind the film’s story and immediately saw Jaclyn and Cloe as the ideal people to play the main roles. She also based it on a true story from a person she knew.

“I got this [story] from a person I knew. 11 years old, that specific, binenta siya ng nanay niya for a very low price because her mom is an addict. So doon ko siya binuild up from them. Just because you don’t know people like this doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Gusto ko ipakita sa mga tao na there’s people like this kaya nilagay ko siya sa story na ‘to,” she said.

Carillo added that even in Jaclyn’s lines, where she’s asking for money from Elise, she drew inspiration from real life because she knew people whose mothers constantly ask them for money.

When Bonifacio received the offer to direct Tahan, he was happy to work with Carillo’s script. Although Carillo already wrote the story in full, Bonifacio played around with it to add to its thrill.

Joining Cloe, Jaclyn, and Carillo in Tahan are JC Santos, Mercedes Cabral, AJ Oteyza, and Karl Medina.
Tahan is now streaming exclusively on Vivamax.
