Being a news personality over the years, Kim Atienza, better known as Kuya Kim, has hosted various shows that allowed him to try new experiences, meet people, and travel to exotic locations. One might assume that Kuya Kim has seen and done it all, but he still eyes some goals he wants to tick off his bucket list. Among them is having a variety show with seasoned comedienne Pokwang.

Kuya Kim finds Pokwang hilarious and great to be with

It was 12 years ago when he first worked with Pokwang as a co-host for the hit noontime show Wowowee.

“We hit it so well. Kasama namin si Chokoleit and then sabi ko, ‘I wish I had a game show or variety show with Pokwang.’ It’s always been my wish,” Kuya Kim said during an online media conference.

He may have wished for it enough that it manifested as GMA Network premieres its first variety show, Tiktoclock, with Kuya Kim and Pokwang as its hosts.

“Tawang-tawa ako kay Pokwang. Gusto ko yung humor niya. Gusto ko yung kabilisan at out-of-the-box humor niya.

Matagal na akong tagahanga ni Pokwang sa kaniyang pagpapatawa. Ngayon, nakikilala ko si Pokwang bilang kaibigan kasi we’re even closer now we work together,” Kuya Kim added.

Pokwang shares the same sentiments and also finds Kuya Kim hilarious.

“Kung si Kuya Kim natatawa sa akin, ako din natatawa sa kaniya. Hindi niya alam na nakakatawa din siya, especially ‘pag sumasayaw siya. Natural na siyang ganyan,” the comedienne said.

Pokwang frequently shows her motherly side to her co-hosts

She added that having Kuya Kim around also allows them to learn new things, true to his personality as the Philippines’ one and only Trivia King.

Yet Kuya Kim and Pokwang aren’t the only ones tasked to host the new show. Joining them is Miss Universe Philippines 2020, Rabiya Mateo. Although Rabiya starred in other shows, including Agimat Ng Agila, Kuya Kim found her presence on the upcoming variety show surprising.

Since she’s a beauty queen, Kuya Kim assumed she’d be self-conscious about her appearance on the show. Rabiya proved him otherwise. According to Kuya Kim, Rabiya shows a more authentic side to her on Tiktoclock and matches the energy her co-hosts give off.

For Pokwang, that’s what makes the three of them jive well together as hosts.

Rabiya Mateo debunks her co-hosts’ first impressions by showing her comedic side

Rabiya also had her expectations of other co-hosts. Since Kuya Kim is in the news and current affairs industry, she thought he had a stiff personality. Kuya Kim also debunked her first impression. Now, Rabiya sees him as a kind and humorous individual.

As for Pokwang, who Rabiya fondly calls “Mamang,” she first felt nervous around the comedienne because of her years and experience in the industry.

“Parang dati takot akong magkamali kasi I know napakatagal na niya sa industriya. Pero si Mamang, nandoon talaga yung touch ng pagiging nanay. Hindi talaga maiiwasan,” the beauty queen said.

She added that Pokwang would give her food and medicine, proving that no matter how long she’s been in the industry, she still puts her heart into everything she does.

Tiktoclock, which showcases Filipinos’ abilities in singing and dancing, premieres today on GMA.
