Mikee Quintos is on fire

Evidently, GMA-7 has a huge trust on Mikee Quintos. For one, they always cast her in big projects, like at present, she headlines the network’s latest drama offering Apoy sa Langit.

All these times, Mikee is thankful to her home studio for assigning her vehicles where her acting chops get honed. She gets to play different characters that are quite challenging.

“This is the reason why I’m inspired to always give my best,” avers Mikee.

According to the young actress, from the very beginning, since she signed up with GMA, she was vocal that she wanted to be challenged and that she wanted to grow in every project where she could pick up new and valuable insights.

“Luckily, that’s what I get in the roles being assigned to me. I’m very happy about it and I feel that the lock-in taping is a master class,” she says.
In Apoy sa Langit, Mikee considers her transition from comedy to drama as her biggest challenge.

“I came from Pepito Manaloto (Unang Kuwento) that ran for ten months. I noticed as early as our initial script reading stage that I making some adjustments.. In Pepito, I speak with a soft and caring voice because I play the younger Elsa (Manilyn Reynes), right? Ate Mane’s voice is soft so I had to pattern it to hers,” she states.

“So, Direk Laurice (Guillen) noticed that my voice sounds soft at the start of our script reading. She readily noticed my habit of adjusting my voice. So, I really worked hard on that aspect. I had to change my voice for my character in Apoy sa Langit for it to be different from that of Elsa’s,” she carries on.

On the lighter side, many of her fans would like to know the present state of her love life especially since Paul Salas recently admitted in an interview that they’re currently in the dating stage.

“I’m happy as of now. I’m dating. Perhaps you know who the guy is. I’m enjoying and happily growing,” Mikee ends.

It’s good that finally, Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera have their own sitcom, something that they really wanted to do for a long time. Titled, Jose & Maria’s Bonggang Villa, the show is a co-production among GMA Network, APT Entertainment, and AgostoDos Pictures (Dong’s own production outfit).

“We want the viewers to see not only the characters of Jose and Maria but also what happens in the life of married couples,” states Dingdong. “We present many domestic issues in the program. There are challenges and conflicts and even those things which are funny but if analyzed, are problematic.”

“The show is not all comedy. There would be episodes that are dramatic. The bottom line is, after watching the program the public will learn different values. It’s like getting entertained and learning at the same time,” he adds.

Does he want their show to stay on air for a long time?

“Well, hopefully! Who wouldn’t want your program to be long-running, right? That’s our goal actually. If others were able to do it before us, it’s also possible that we’ll achieve the same feat!”

Does this mean he is open to more co-production ventures in the future?

“Not everyone is given this opportunity. As much as possible, I want to be a partner. But it’s more on the creative side. Ever since that’s my condition. I want to be involved in character development, whether it’s a drama or comedy,” says Dong.
