It was a nostalgic moment for KZ Tandingan when she learned that she was going to be part of Top Class: The Rise To P-Pop Stardom as a mentor. It’s as if she’s back on her journey in a talent reality show. The only difference is “I’m judging now instead of the one being judged.”

As someone who’s a product of a reality talent show, she felt that it would be easier for her to connect and relate with the students while they prove themselves that they are worthy to become the next big star on the P-Pop scene.

“It’s a huge responsibility since there will be 30 students competing to be part of the group that the show is going to form. It’s not an easy task but that alone excites me. I’m all for new challenges in my career,” KZ told Manila Standard Entertainment in an interview.

As a ‘Top Class’ mentor, KZ will help her students be the next big pop stars

When asked what KZ has to say to her potential Top Class students, she shares that “I will do my best to inspire and help them reach their full potential. We will have so much fun in the process but make no mistake, I will be strict.”

She further said that she’s going to be very strict as a mentor because the students need a strong foundation and their experience in the show will prepare them for the real world. “And if we guided them correctly, they will be armed with the right skills and discipline when they start working professionally,” she stated.

“All of us aim for longevity, we all want to stay in the business. So, for a student to become number 1, he must have the right attitude. I prefer to work with artists who are aware that they still have more to learn,” KZ underscored.

In becoming a mentor-judge on TV for the first time, she mentioned that “I’m honored, grateful, and excited to be part of Top Class”.

Getting admitted into one’s dream school is the goal of any ambitious student. However, it is just the first step in the journey of getting to the top. Once admitted, students will have to study hard and it will be the teachers who will get to impart their knowledge, wisdom, and skills to willing learners, ensuring that graduates will be finishing at the top of their class.

Top Class: The Rise To P-Pop Stardom is the newest and biggest P-Pop reality talent search competition in the Philippines where thirty lucky students will be admitted into the first batch of Top Class. They will have a rare and unique learning opportunity from the sole X Factor Philippines champion and one of the most impressive contestants in the 2018 season of the Chinese singing competition Singer. In fact, she was so impressive that the eventual winner, British Pop star Jessie J, specifically asked KZ to perform with her during the finals of the show.

Auditions for the show are currently ongoing and it will be open only until April 20, 2022, giving aspiring P-Pop trainees less than a month to get ready and apply for a slot in the highly anticipated talent search. For this edition of the show, Top Class admissions will only be open to boys aged 16 to 26. The audition mechanics can be found on the social media pages of Top Class and aspiring students will have to accomplish the steps enumerated on the Top Class Kumu channel.

Top Class is a collaborative game-changing program of Filipino entertainment giants: Kumu, Cignal Entertainment, TV5, and Cornerstone Entertainment. The show will be hosted by Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.

Catch the exciting reality series this 2022 only on TV5, Kumu, and select digital platforms.
