Engaging bar scene in ‘A Love To Last’

We saw Ian Veneracion singing a sad song in A Love To Last that began airing last Monday.

It was supposed to be the scene where Bea Alonzo’s character was nursing a broken heart over her cheating fiancé, while Ian was also contemplating on the annulment case his wife Iza Calazado wants from him.

Both Bea and Ian’s characters have yet to meet but the scene in that “sing-along bar,”  was made very engaging to make it more affecting and nakaka-kilig to watch.

We have known Ian since he was a child star and even when he was with then That’s Entertainment show in the 80s, but we never knew that he could truly carry a good tune.

To be fair, his very good and youthful looks match his very relaxing voice and if we were in the shoes of Bea or Iza, we would easily fall for that voice alone, hahaha!

Here’s just hoping that the show will sustain that kind of appeal and relaxing emotions as its story progresses.

Speaking of good story, May Tatlong Bibe’s director Joven Tan, who is also a friend, disagrees with some scribes saying that the “popularity” gained by the nursery rhyme has already waned.

Many believed that last year could have been a better time for the movie to be exhibited in theaters because it was then when the “song” and now a movie theme/title was still a household tune and even a social media sensation.

“There’s always miracle in love. Kapag yun naman ang sentro ng kuwento mo, kahit anong time pa yan, never iyan na naluma o nalipasan ng panahon,” said Joven who also wrote the theme song of the movie.

Joven affirms that he has a very good story that appeals to anybody and most of all, “it is a very ordinary one but with lots of love and has Filipino values on family, friendship and belonging.”

Tatlong Bibe is topbilled by three very talented child actors Marco Masa (of Nathaniel fame), Raikko Mateo (of Honesto) and The Voice Kids grand winner Lyka Gairanod.

Joining them are Sharlene San Pedro, Edgar Allan Guzman, JK Labajo, Victor Neri, Rita Avila, Perla Bautista, Anita Linda, Lou Veloso and Eddie Garcia, with Mommy Dionesia Pacquiao, in her first top-billing role.

Another very young actor who comes from a family of showbiz-ens feels honored when he was chosen by no less than the award-winning and box-office director Dan Villegas to play a major role in the family horror flick Ilawod.

The son of Quezon City Mayor and our kumpare Herbert Bautista, Harvey Bautista, expresses gratitude on his selection by Villegas, who describes the 13-year-old as “perfect for the role.”

“I also don’t know. I have no idea why he chose me. When I auditioned for the role, I have no knowledge of what will happen next. I was just told I got the role when we were about to start shooting na po,” explained Harvey who plays the son of Iza Calzado and Ian Veneracion, and the brother of Xyriel Manabat

“Mapo-possess po ako rito nung Ilawod, a water elemental, pero hindi yung parang Exorcist possession kundi iko-kontrol lang yung mind ko through a girl, si Isla, (played by award-winning child star Therese Malvar). Ako lang ang nakakakita kay Isla at yung sister ko, si Xyriel. Yung parents namin di siya nakikita and ilalayo niya ang loob ko sa mga magulang ko. Tatakutin po niya kayo sa mga gagawin niya sa movie,” explained Harvey.

Harvey, who goes to a regular school and admits feeling the pressure of a politician’s son, also shares, “I was told that my dad won his first Best Actor award in the first Shake Rattle and Roll movie. That was before he became a popular actor.”

“If you enjoy watching horror flicks, you will enjoy this one,” added he.

“Does he really believe he will make it or will he eclipse his father’s popularity?” many co-scribes asked Harvey.

“Anak niya po ako. Siguro naman ay may mga namana ako sa kanya na puwede kong magamit to my full advantage in this industry to succeed. Mahilig na po talaga kasi ako (umarte) since I was a kid. I also feel it so siguro po nakikita at nararamdaman naman yun. Maybe in time, I will also be like my father,” said Harvey.

The youngest Bautista in showbiz today, Harvey was part of Goin Bulilit until last year and has appeared in many shows including MMK where he even won an acting award.

How true is this news on Rey Valera’s reaction when he was informed of netizens’ remarks about his commentary-advice to a female contestant in the singing contest portion “Tawag ng Tanghalan” in It’s Showtime?

It came to us as chismis at first, but since reliable friends and readers never failed to give us verified items, we want Rey’s camp to react to this.

As per their story, Rey stood by his comment regarding this female contestant’s body in relation to her having a good and happy relationship with her bf.

To quote the jury head when he gave his comment on the singing ability of the contestant, “Walang kinalaman sa pagkanta, iha, kundi sa relasyon mo lang. Nakita ko yung picture mo nung araw, sexy ka. Ang advice ko sa ‘yo, huwag ka magpapataba, iha. Alam mo kung bakit? Tanungin mo ako kung bakit. Kasi kapag ganyan ka kataba, at ganyan ka kalaki, at hinahalikan ka ng dyowa mo, nagkakawanggawa lang yun.”

This angered the netizens and called Valera names and very insensitive. Some even accused him of trying very hard to be at par with the style of Vice Ganda’s comic genius and his manner of delivering jokes.

So would we expect the music icon to say sorry soon? Dapat siguro di ba?
