MiG Ayesa rocks…about insurance

Yes you read that right.

Insurance companies and Rockstars may not be theusual mix. Its almost like comparing night and day– one is all about rules and conformity, while the other is all about living on the edge.

When people talk about insurance, there’s always this preconceived notion that its boring and oftentimes complicated. Some even view it as a necessary evil in today’s modern times and something that only rich people can afford.

So it was kind of surprising to see International Rocker MiG Ayesa talking excitedly about his newest song entitled “Fill My Cup” that he did in collaboration with FWD Life Philippines.

“I never thought, I’d say this but I was actually very excited to work with FWD Life, MiG told Manila Standard shortly after his song made its simultaneous radio debut on Magic 89.9, Jam 88.3, and 103.5 K-Lite.

He said he himself was surprised that FWD is not the typical risk-averse type of insurance company.

“You see I’m quite the anti-insurance guy. I think of it as one of those necessary evils of the modern world. But when I learned more about FWD, their credo, and mission it got me worked up to write a song for them,” he added.

Igniting the Passion Revolution

“The song ‘Fill My Cup’ is my own personal soundtrack as it echoes my take on life and how I look at opportunities and challenges. It’s all about following your passions, ‘filling’ up life with everything you can and never giving up. There are so many amazing things to see and to do in this world and we shouldn’t let our uncertainties and fears stop us.”

“Basically we are only given a certain amount of time in this Earth and we want to fill it up with everything that we can possibly do. There are so many amazing things to see and do in this world, you shouldn’t let your fears stop you” the former lead star of Rock of Ages pointed out.

“Their motto is not about, ‘Whoa, don’t do that…be careful.’ FWD wants to tell everyone—that they will be there to back you up, just in case something goes wrong. Remember, fortune favors the brave and FWD is there to help you be brave.”

“Our vision is to change the way people feel about insurance, for Filipinos to see insurance in a different light, and ‘laymanize’ what it is all about and present it a way that is relevant and intuitive,” said Roche Vandenberghe, FWD Life Philippines’ head of Marketing.

Filipinos are musical people. We express ourselves through music and lyrics. And we thought what better way to communicate how we, as a brand, embody the Filipino spirit—their love of life, their resilience, their optimism, said Vandenberghe.

“Fill My Cup” is a song about resilience and optimistically taking on life’s challenges and future uncertainties by just living life to the fullest.

“MiG, was the perfect partner for us,” says Vandenberghe, “not only because he is a world-class musician and talented actor, but he also lives and breathes the FWD brand message. The song’s music video perfectly captures MiG’s zeal for life, as shown in the behind-the-scenes footage of the studio recording and clips of his own personal experiences and adventures.”

To lead the charge toward inspiring and fueling Filipinos’ zest for life, FWD Life Philippines is donating P50 every time “Fill My Cup” is requested and played on the radio. The proceeds will go to the Saint Rita Orphanage, a loving home that takes care of abandoned and orphaned children.

On filling his cup

MiG says he considers FWD as one of the biggest companies he has worked with, and considers it another achievement. When asked if his cup is already full, MiG says although he feels very happy and blessed, he still has a lot of things he wants to do both for his career and personal life.

MiG has appeared in a few plays in the Philippines, such as Rock of Ages, Bridges of Madison County, and Curtains Up!, MiG says he likes performing for his Filipino fans. Mig admits he wants to collaborate with local artists, like Bamboo, Gary V. and Louie Ocampo.  “The musicians I’ve been working with here at FWD (Insurance) are like my dream team. I love also writing and collaborating with people Nino Alejandro and Nyoy Volante. These guys are originally from the pop world but they transferred to theater so they live in that pop rock world. Also I’m a big fan of Bamboo. I think he’s phenomenal. I think there’s just so much talent happening here,” he said.

Another rocker he wants to work with is his second cousin Manuel Legarda from Razorback and Wolfgang. “We’ve always talked about getting together and we’ve always been pulled apart for different reasons. We’ve never really had a chance to do something together. But he’s someone I want to work with. It’s just a matter of time,” he added.

With the continued popularity of reality TV, MiG says he is also willing to be a judge on a talent competition just like the one he joined in Australia. “I would love to judge that. But no I haven’t been approached. I have done some stuff in the States but not here in the Philippines. It would be nice to actually do something back here,” he says.
