Regal Entertainment dishes out a different tale of love and romance in this year’s “hugot comedy,” That Thing Called Tanga Na, opening in theaters nationwide on Aug. 10.

That Thing Called Tanga Na revolves around the lives of five friends – four gays and a lady – each has a story to tell about the sacrifices they did in finding true love.

Eric (Ronnie Chui) is a rich lawyer and Pinoy movie fan. He freaks out when he discovers that his young boytoy is having an affair with a gay talent manager younger than he is.

Billy, meanwhile, is a closet gay working as a security guard. His live-in partner suffers a medical condition that drives him to take care of him like a dutiful “wife.” Despite this, the guy’s mother treats him shabbily when live-in partner dies.

Kean (C.C.) plays the character of an online clothing company owner. He and his boyfriend have been on for five years. Thus, he goes out of his way and plans their wedding in Central Park, New York City.

Unknown to him, his boyfriend will wed a Korean and he has been tapped to design and execute the bride’s wedding gown.

Angeline as Shirley is a trying hard singer/events specialist. She is married to an irresponsible guy who sires her a child. She is a living witness to her friends’ craziness when it comes to love. However, her life turns crazier vwhen she learns that her husband had a one night stand with one of her gay friends.

Eric, Billy, Kean, Martin and Angeline not only deliver funny hugot lines, crazy scenes and foolish adventures in That Thing Called Tanga Na.

As direk Joel says, “Martin is a very good actor. I’ve handled him before sa TV. First time kong idirek si Kean. Dedicated siyang actor. Walang hang up si Billy kahit laiaki siya. Eric is always competent. Si Angeline, ang galing ng timing sa comedy. May ritmo siya.”

Gays and gay men will most definitely be able to relate to the characters in the film. So riotous are the scenes in the movie that its trailer has earned countless hits on the Regal YouTube channel and other social media accounts.

That Thing Called Tanga Na shows us that, indeed, all is fair in love.

Mahusay silang lahat. Nakakatawa! Makaka-identify ang lahat sa movie maski hindi bading. Universal ang approach namin sa pelikula,” assures Direk Joel, who is also responsible for such blockbuster films like Manay Po 1, Manay Po 2, Happy Together, and Pusong Mamon to name a few.

As the cliche goes, It’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

Catch That Thing Called Tanga Na premiere screening on Aug. 8.
